Nice little to stop over for a cheeky bikers half ?

Very old coaching inn off the beaten track. A decent selection of beers and good pub food. Enjoyed the baked camembert but found the pie a bit too salty for my taste . Well worth a visit after a long walk in the beautiful countryside, cosy bar and decent garden area and large car park

Stopped for a swift half walking the 1066 country way. Pleasant country pub. The ale was a bit warm (and pricey at £3 for a half).

Foods good, the service is always friendly, and the atmosphere is great it’s a proper English pub.
A little disappointed with how long our dinner took, we ordered at 7:23 and it turned up at 8:28 which might have been ok but we weren’t told until 8:15 that the food will take a long time.
Was it the end of the world? No. But when you’re hungry 5 minutes can feel like a long wait.

We found this little gem while on a weekend away. It is tucked out the way through narrow country lanes.
I phoned to make a reservation and the young lady that took my call was extremely polite, friendly and helpful.
On arrival the manager greeted us and sat us at our table she was also extremely welcoming.
We liked the fact that there wasn’t a huge menu, there was still plenty to choose from and plenty on the specials board for the day.
We started with the homemade parfait and warm thick home made bread which was amazing.
I had one of the biggest sirloin steaks I’ve seen, which was cooked to perfection. My husband had the home made lamb and mint pie which looked and smelled amazing.
If we are ever this way again we will definitely come back.

Lovely pub with excellent food. Busy when we visited and good atmosphere. Bit out of the way for us but well worth visiting.

Came here after trying to get food at Ashburnham Place.
The location is beautiful with a good size beer garden.
Harvey's beer was great.
We ordered pork belly and the beef and Stilton pie special
It was very tasty with good sized portions. I couldn't actually taste any Stilton in the pie.

It wasn't busy as it was Thursday afternoon. The food delivery was not super fast, so I'm not sure what it would be like when busy, but we were enjoying a leisurely few beers so was ok.

This was a great find so fully intend to return.

We went in for a drink after walking part of the 1066 Country walk. We were served without having to wait at the bar. The staff were lovely. Tho we didn't eat there the food smelled good!

Came here for lunch with my husband and 2 year old daughter.
At first I thought it was a nice little pub, we were sat in a quiet cosy area down some steps which I thought was perfect for my daughter to contain her (if needed). Which actually turned out to be a great idea as we waited 45 minutes for our food. She was getting fidgety and so were we. Not even a sorry for delay when the food finally arrived either. After my husband asking twice how long food was likely to be too.
I ordered a cheese ploughman’s, my husband a ciabatta and my daughter nugget meal. Why it took 45 min to make that I don’t know,. My cheese looked like leftovers from another plate, the ciabatta I was told was ok. But the nuggets were so over cooked my daughter ended up picking the batter off them all.
The price was pretty ridiculous too, even for todays cost of living.
The aperol spritz however was lovely, which I had 2 of while waiting for our food.
Sadly we will not be returning anytime soon.

Good range of local beers available and plenty of seating available for a summer’s day. Great pub.
