Went here last Thursday as heard they did a good quiz night. Had a burger and a couple of pints of Guinness zero; burger was top notch, proper gourmet stuff and we really enjoyed the quiz, we somehow won! Only downside was that it was a bit quiet, probably helped us win the quiz though. Staff were great, very friendly and welcoming.

Having learnt from last week’s experience we turned up on time for our 2pm reservation and was not disappointed! ??

Stephanie (hope I spent her name correctly ?) greeted us upon arrival, escorted us to our table and we got our roasts which were awesome ? I strongly recommend the lamb ?

The apple crumble deserves a visit on its own, what a dessert! However for my personal preference a double serving of custard would be perfection but that just me. I dare you to have it ?

To quote Arnie… “I’ll Be Back” ?

So having ordered the burgers on Uber Eats the family & I decided we’ll visit to explore the roasts.

Arriving fashionably late (16:00) ? we ordered and was informed moments after that the roasts were finished ? so we settled for the alternatives.

The batter was oily/salty for my personal preference but I did enjoy the haddock and the chips were banging.

The staff made up for our loss with deserts and we’ve booked a table for the future ?

If you are a live band do not play at this pub! They have terrible equipment that don’t work and they don’t allow you to bring your own. The space they have for bands is a trap and is tucked in a way which causes horrendous feedback and you can’t hear your band members instruments or vocals.. The worst venue we ever played at by far and we’re told by other bands who played they’re that they hated the experience too. Rude manager too! Avoid

Group of 4 out for a nice evening 2 friends went out to have a cigarette, a doorman came in and took their drinks off our table, he said they weren't allowed back in and had to Finnish their drinks in the garden, I made enquiries and got conflicting reasons why this had happened but I was told by the Manager that they were drinking off the premises, this is not true as they left their drinks on the table, I personally feel this was a racial issue instigated by the doorman, needless to say we will never set foot In this place again, such a shame that a doorman I given this power to abuse decent paying customers

Excellent pub due to exceptional bar staff. Went Friday lunchtime, decent selection of beers, and good food. But it really it is the staff who make it. They are very friendly, and excel at their jobs. They create a really nice atmosphere

My first time visiting here today and it will be the last. I had a roast beef dinner. Roast beef was OK but had lots of chewy fat bits which I couldn’t eat. If it wasn’t full of fat this would have been the best part of my roast as some of the beef was cut nicely and cooked ideally.

The roast potatoes was a complete let down. I was given 2 roast potatoes, 1 big one and 1 very very tiny one. I asked why only 2 roast potatoes and the lady said your meant to get at least 4, let me speak to the chef.
She came back and gave me 3 more. The roast potatoes were fried and definitely no way roasted. That’s why they are called roast potatoes because they are meant to be roasted not put in a fat fryer which tasted completely different to a proper decent roast potato.
The Yorkshire pudding was burnt so I did not eat it.

I was given very minimal gravy so I asked if I could have a little bit more. After a couple of minutes a different person came over with a card machine and said ‘I’ve been told you would like some more gravy , that would be £3 please’
I was completely shocked and just could not believe my ears. £3 for a little bit more gravy. Are they serious? I can buy a whole tub of gravy from the shops for that price. A little bit of gravy granules with some hot water doesn’t cost nowhere near £3. And even saying that, the gravy wasn’t all that.

I only went here because my local pub where I usually go on a Sunday for my roast dinners had run out by the time I got there.
I definitely won’t be going back to this place. I’ll continue going to my local and if I go there and they have sold out I will find somewhere else but not this pub. No way!!

A complete waste of £19. ?
