The food is nice, but the place is a little cramped

Good, reasonably priced pre- theatre and general menu. Prix fixe menu available

Parking: Free street parking in evening

I travel extensively in Europe and this is the worse meal I’ve ever had at a restaurant that claimed to be French cuisine. Stay away. McDonald’s would be a better value for your money. Both the wine selection and the food were horrible.

Delicious food, very reasonable prix fixe menu - perfect for a lovely restaurant meal before the theatre.

Cote always has good food, reasonable cost and good service.

What has happened to Cote? We had a dreadful meal on Tuesday in St Martin's Lane - the food was simply not very nice and they forgot to credit our bill as promised when we complained about the uncooked and truly awful (not) melted camembert (a manager came over and apologised and promised to take it off the bill which didn't happen and we only realised afterwards as we were in a pre-theatre rush). The steak tartare was sinewy and the 'half' chicken was a couple of fried pieces and was like school cafeteria not a West End restaurant. Wish I'd taken photos especially of the chicken.

Used to be great, now is a shadow of its former self.

We did have a nice waiter though who was charming, but he couldn't make up for the rest of it (low service score was thanks to the manager's reaction to the camembert and the fact we still paid for it).

Slow service, tasteless food. Strongly not recommended

Excellent meal after the theatre. Staff were very friendly and the service was great. Complimentary glass of bubbles for a birthday celebration. The venue was roomy with plenty of space between tables or booths. Recommended if you are in the area.

Had a very good brunch. Not at all crowded, prices OK considering the location. We always like the ambience of Cote - relaxed brasserie.

Visited with friend pre theatre. Serve was good but the food wasn't even mediocre it was poor in taste and the presentation was awful. We won't be going back.

Second time going to a Cote restaurant in London. Ordered same dish; beef cheek bourguignon. It was as good as I expected. Very delicious. Table service was better than other one we went earlier so three fives is my rating.

Went with my mom for a quick lunch before the show. I have tried their food in other venues across London and it's always lived up to the standard, including this time. The chicken liver parfait is very nice, so as the seafood stew. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming and service is quick.

Knowing you way around London is one thing to do. You can find places to go, things to see, and a good place to eat. And, in London, that is possible on all levels. And one time you want to know where to eat is when you are going to the theatre that evening. Shows alls tart at different times, so you need to know where to have dinner before the show starts. Once place we found this time around was COTE in Coven Garden area which is really on ST. MARTIN'S LANE Not far from Charrington a block away. It is a small restaurant with a French flair. And, being in London, this is a good place for a difference. The day before we saw a line out the door around 630pm. People were trying to get in but it was packed. So the next day we went at 530pm and got ourselves a table. No problem on that. We sat down and within less than an hour the place was packed. It was a good thing as we were going to see a show and needed to be out of COTE by 7pm. Out waiter was great. He presented the menus and provided help as to the special of the evening and even the pre-theatre specials of whether a 2-course or 3-course selection. We had time to think and to consider what options we should pick from the menu. It took a bit but we decided. We also ordered an appetizer Charcuterie board with Savoie ham, truffle saucisson, Coppa ham and pickles with toasted sourdough baguette. This was ideal with a glass of wine to compliment that. We then decided on one 2-course pre-threatre selection which included the Charcuterie board followed by the Poulet Breton Rôti. It is corn-fed marinated roasted half chicken, topped with herbs and served with fries. It was also topped with a special mushroom sauce for additional flavor. A good dish that complimented the other dish we had. We also received an order of Moules Frites. Special rope-grown British mussels in a white wine, shallot and cream sauce served with frites. This alone was a meal itself. These musselts were very fresh and tasty. The sauce perfect. For dessert we decided to convert the 2-course meal to a 3-course meal. For that we ordered the Apple Tarte Tatin. This is a very classic French dessert invented. It was caramelised apples with a puff pastry base, salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. And an espresso of course to complete the meal. Overall, it was a good place to be. The waiter was wonderful and a true gentleman. The prices were perfect. The portions and quality ideal. Service ideal. And the atmosphere was like being in Paris. Tables close together. People talking. Food coming around to all. We also left in time to get to the theatre that night. Merci, Cote.
