Been going here of and on for 6-7 years. Trust me when I say some of these negative reviews are blatantly untrue/massively overstating a problem. It's fine at worst and they're happy to resolve an issue you may have, people locally need to stop having Michelin level expectations from a fish and chip shop.
Visited while on holiday in the area. Very disappointed with the quality of the food. Fish and chips smelt of old cooking oil and not tasty at all. Wish I had read the previous reviews first as would not have gone.

The chips tasted like they'd been cooked in dirty oil and cooked 3 times over, very dark. The fish although a big portion was alright but soggy inside. The person that served me looked like his uniform hadn't been washed in a week and just the place was grubby which does make me wonder what food hygiene is going to be like. I will try somewhere else next time.
