A great night celebrating a friend’s birthday here last night. The private space reserved for us was perfect, a room to ourselves but still enjoying the lively pub ambience. Service was attentive and friendly and we all really enjoyed our different food choices. Thank you team OCT!

Great place for lunch. Friendly, welcoming and efficient staff. Both the Salt marsh lamb duo and Tuna with Greek salad we're superb dishes. A "must try" for people. Very tasty.Lovely atmosphere of an old English quirky pub.I have no doubt we will eat here again in the near future.

Our son and daughter live local. Treated me to mother's day Sunday lunch here and again today for my husbands birthday. The food was amazing the portions are huge very good value for money. What is so great the manager can not do enough for you. Our daughter in law asked if a sauce on her fish could be left off there was no hesitation in doing so. We'll done to you and your staff. We will be in again. I cannot wait.

Took my parents for Sunday dinner and had a great time, yet again!Food was top notch. The Octopus starter being a clear favorite! Food was all tasty and very well presented (on hot plates!). Atmosphere was cosy and relaxed. It was busy but that didn’t seem to phase the waitress nor the manager. They couldn’t do enough for you! The manger even changed one of the dishes to suit my wife's palette with absolutely no qualms!! Service like that makes a big difference to the experience. Will keep coming back!!

Good evening, so I'll set you a scene, its Sunday 6pm sunny day.The old cherry tree, the decor is traditional cannot fault it.the chap serving is very friendly and even went above and beyond for the table behind as the kids wanted a large dessert so he split on for them and they still ended up with a full adult sunder each.Had the roast sirloin of beef, which was tender and melt in the mouth.the stuffing was amazing roast potatoes where spot on, the spring greens fresh and full of flavorAnd the gravy was lushSo all in all the best roast dinner in northampton. It's as good as being the only man in a hottub of 5 stunning naked ladies

I used to come here many years ago and as was over this side of Northampton decided to give it a try, I was not disappointed the menu was not all Stanstead had imagination and investing options for everyone. I had the curry sauced cod on new potatoes was fantastic and typed that with a lovely sticky toffee pudding..Well worth going out of the way to visit you will not be disappointed.I marked atmosphere a little lower just based where we were sitting and the oldie nature of the pub..

Brilliant local village pub. Tons of charm and history. Great beer garden, did welcome too.Paul the bar manager is a great guy too, very hospitable and helpful.Food not served on Mondays, but bar snacks are available.Loads of ales on tap. Loads of flavoured gins as well.Looking around at the decorations on the walls, and photos to look at. Plenty to chat about.Loads of seating for food or just chatting and relaxing as well.Car park is small, but that's not the fault of the pub and if you get here early, there's always a space available. If it's full, just park down the raid on the high street. It's merely a 1 minute walk away.Lovely placeParking: If the car park is full, just park on the high street, it's a 1 minute walk.

Arrived for lunch to an empty restaurant and ordered soft drinks whilst browsing menu. Menu was a bit fancy for lunch and steak had recently been removed as a lunch option. Didn’t really fancy anything else on the menu so asked if steak was available…employee told us it could not be done. We chose to leave and went to the bar to pay for drinks. Same employee punched drinks price on card machine and placed it on the bar where I couldn’t see the display, so I had to ask how much. She told me the price, I tapped card on machine and left. No please, thank you or any communication from her whatsoever. Just because we didn’t fancy what was on the menu? Perhaps because it was a little pretentious? Perhaps menu and poor service is why your restaurant was empty and the White Hart around the corner was full, as that is where we moved to. Won’t be coming back. Plenty of choice locally.

Standard menu choice gives good value and choice. A la Carte is relatively expensive for pub food. Good pub so worth a visit

Hadn't been in years but it is under new ownership and seemed better for it. Food was good but don't expect charge from a tenner.
