Just wanted for darts was ok ?
A proper local drinking pub!!!
Great spot for lunch. Chicken tikka sandwich was enormous, and the cheese and ham toastie was generously filled. Lunch was only marred by a couple complaining that the menu had changed and did not include what they had come in for. For clarity, this is stated on the website, as it's a seasonal menu. The full current menu is also posted by the front door, and there's plenty to choose from. But, this was all handled so well by the wait staff and manager, with patience and understanding. Lovely staff, genuinely dog friendly pub, and a nice pint. We'll see you again when we're next in Witney!
Just been for dinner with a friend on a Tuesday night, it’s the first time I’ve been since it changed hands and it did not disappoint. It was busy and atmospheric for a Tuesday. We had 3 courses and each meal was delicious. Everything was so reasonably priced and the service was top notch. Well done to the Team, we will definitely be back!
Food excellent, customer service excellent, went above and beyond. Great value. The only thing that we were a bit disappointed with is that we asked for a little extra gravy, which we got in a very small jug. Didn’t expect to be charged extra for this on the bill!! We think it’s a little mean.
I booked for a party of 18 last Sunday. When we arrived they had squeezed us onto tables so small that we only managed because one person was unwell (so didn’t turn up) and after we asked them to bring another chair to put on the end of the table as there was just no way six of us would fit into the space provided. As they serve Sunday lunch on a Sunday we did not pre-order. To save the challenge of sorting the bill I asked if they would take orders for families. We were told no, as food would come out per bill, instead we were advised to order by each table (we had two). I told them this would not work as families were split across two tables. As I wanted us all served together, I said “never mind, just bill as one and I will sort.” As we ordered the waiter told me that one table had not ordered starters. I said okay just please serve mains together. Well of course they ignored my instructions. They served the starter, cleared it way, and after a quite long wait served the table without starters their main. They did not serve the second table their mains until at least ten minutes after the first table had finished their main, despite several prompts from me and a small disagreement with the waiter who insisted he had told me that he would not serve us as one party, despite booking as one! We insisted they bring deserts to us all at the same time. We waited so long for these that the two children on the first table were getting so distressed that we had to ask that they at least bring their deserts. Total disaster. We usually mix family members at each course. One person had driven from Birmingham for a 12:30 meal. In the end he left at 3:30 (as soon as we’d finished) without being to speak to many of us. If you are booking for a larger group I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was actually very nice, although the vegetables served to the second table were barely warm. I think the meals had been standing for several minutes. The waiter apologised and told me the manager would come to speak to me He chose not to.
We arrived with a lovely welcome and very accommodating staff. Food was great, well priced and delicious. We picked this venue for our Christmas dinner because it was the only place in town for an evening meal that didn't make you have a set menu, aan innflated set price or pre order on small groups! A major plus for me! They had a full on busy service but nothing was too much trouble for any of the team. When we needed to move from the restaurant for their second sitting, Tommy found us a great spot in The Corridor seating area where we were able to continue our evening, giving us table service for our drinks. Keep up what you're doing at The Horseshoes, it's working great!
First year of having a Christmas Dinner here. Went along with my brother and we weren't disappointed. The starters were lovely and the turkey meal excellent. Such a friendly atmosphere and everyone was so welcoming. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
A really friendly pub, great staff and an interesting menu. The service was great with the staff being very informative and helpful. All of us enjoyed our meals, our vegetarian friend really liked her pumpkin risotto and I was impressed by the fresh horseradish The added bonus sauce (and I grow my own horseradish!) which accompanied the very tasty slow cooked shin beef. The added bonus was the pub was directly opposite to where we were staying.
We were staying in Witney for one night and I liked the reviews for this Pub online. I had booked a table for my wife, myself and my 89 year old Mum on the Thursday evening and we were not let down. Very friendly staff from the start to finish with service and superb food. I would heavily recommend their pies and the banana fritters. Very popular pub too but deservedly so.

A group of us had a wonderful evening at this lovely Pub. We felt so welcomed, the food from a very good menu was beautifully cooked, and the service was great. I couldn't fault it and can highly recommend it!
What a great place! Friendly staff, attentive service, lovely food with extensive menu. We were a larger party and arrived a little early for our table, but no probem, we sat in the rear courtyard until it was ready. A great atmosphere, busy place and no wonder with the food being very good. Fully recommend this place.
Walked past this place and very much got the wrong impression from the exterior. The Beavertown banners and parasols outside don’t do the place justice, we went in just for a drink (Beavertown actually so the ads worked!) and stayed to eat. Very impressed with the service and the food. Would definitely recommend!
This is an excellent place to eat out. The food was excellent, the staff courteous and professional and the drinks reasonably priced. Very good atmosphere as the place was busy. Will definitely be returning.
We booked a very late table, so were not expecting much. What we did get was a very nice surprise. The service was friendly, and we did not feel rushed even though we were seated at 21:20 (our choice). The food (I had a home made pie) was freshly cooked, the vegetables again fresh, not some that had been hanging about for ages. I would certainly eat here again, and this time allowing more time. The ambience is warm and inviting, and I found the art work very agreeable.
