We had a lovely nights stay here in an upgraded room with a four poster bed. The staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing but its not cheap so try and get a full board package. There maybe some areas that need a bit of attention but that kind of adds to the charm. There are only 14 rooms so it's very intimate which is what we liked about it. Overall we had a great stay here.

Yes it’s a little tired which is to be expected for building of that age but this didn’t detract from the charm or service . The nearby wood and old church are also worth exploring and the food was excellent.Rooms: Our room - The Dell had its own staircase which made it very private and quietNearby activities: The wood adjacent the property is lovely and ax the hotel accepted dogs during our stay this would be ideal if you’re a dog ownerFood & drinks: Great dejection of drinks and the food is superb , very rich , generous portions and well presented

2nd time I've been here. Great 4 years ago, not good at all yesterday. Cauliflower fritters were bland, lacking seasoning. Ribeye steak was over cooked, tough and gristley.

Excellent value for money with wonderful and friendly staff, beautiful rooms and setting and a great breakfast.

Terrible experience and I would avoid if possible. Despite the beautiful building our experience wasn’t good. The staff were rude with an even worse manager. Not only were they very short with us for no reason the hotel charged my card despite my booking being paid for up front. When I challenged this I was only met with rudeness asking that I let them look into it. They eventually showed me that they had charged my card but couldn’t provide a reason and said I needed to speak to best western when the charge was clearly the hotels. One staff member eventually offered to refund the fraudulent charge but the manager revoked this even though she couldn’t provide a reason for the charge. Best western have also not been very helpful as all correspondence has been forwarded to the hotel to resolve as they charged my card - I will not be staying here again.Rooms were old with things not working such as the taps, with the bathroom flooring coming up, another reason to not spend your hard earned money.

Posting on behalf of my sister in-law who stayed there with her partner. They were offered £30 off in light of the issues but when they paid over £300 for two nights it's not simply good enough. See pics. No hot water when they arrived and the room was filthy, with even an eye lash on the mattress. Head stains on the armchair. Cobwebs. The shower was too small for them due to the roof height. Dust in many places.
Disabled access from the parking is difficult but a nice place

Went for Royal Afternoon Tea with a voucher from friends. Excellent service, friendly staff and wonderful tea. Box provided to take home uneaten cakes. Don't have lunch if you are going to enjoy the tea. Sat outside under shades overlooking gardens. Very tranquil and most enjoyable.Food & drinks: Excellent Afternoon Tea.Noteworthy details: Tranquil

I have never been so let down.Been trying all week to book a room for 4 nights a week for (get this) 6 months and I can't even get the courtesy of a call. Have been a "Best Western" user for years whilst travelling for business - well NO MORE - totally shambolic

Disappointed as room although large was quite shabby and needed some attention in respect of decor, as did most of the inside of the Hotel. Bedroom was too hot to sleep, as no air con and windows were locked and could not be opened. En-Suite shower head did not stretch up high enough, therefore had to lower slightly to take a shower. Good Points: (1) Hearty breakfast served in a nice Dining Room (2) Good Friendly waiting and bar staff Staff (3) Huge spacious grounds with outside seating patio area. Will probably stay over again sometime.

Quiet location offering friendly service. Room had a very old world feel, floor uneven, could benefit from redecoration, but had a superb 4 poster bed with curtains and canopy.
