We have dined here many times over the years, and have always had enjoyable meals and nice experiences. However, on this occasion we were overcharged on the bill. I didn't notice it on the night, just paid the bill, but we were charged for a fourth course that we didn't have. I called the hotel the following day (12/06/22) and was told that a manager would call me back to discuss it. Now mistakes happen, and thats not a problem, but it is how they are dealt with that's the important thing. The manger did not call me back, I left two further voicemails, but again no reply? I then emailed the general manager who apologised and said he would pass my details to another manager who would contact me, you guessed it-No contact! Nearly 10 days later and another email to the GM, I finally get a call from another manager (22/06/22) who apologised, and agreed to refund me. I would have thought at the very least, that some sort of good will gesture should have been offered for all the wasted time, and inconvenience I was caused. Unfortunately that wasn't forthcoming.

We are here last night whilst staying at the hotel, we thought the hotel was very poor so wasn’t expecting too much at the restaurant. Generally the service was ok, but hugely depending on who was serving you - 1 or 2 were good but others looked like they had absolutely no idea at all. In terms of the menu and the food, for starters I had the Scallop and my wife the Parsnip - both dishes we felt were below par - especially the Parsnip, basically a bowl of cream. For mains we both had steak and this was much better, although the salsify was quite hard. We had a side of potatoes and veg which were also good. The desserts also felt pre packaged and not really that fresh. The Sancerre we ordered was very nice. I wouldn’t rush to eat here again

Food good but way overpriced. Dining room is stunning. Service is by completely inexperienced and unsupervised staff who at times look lost and unguided.

Beautiful surroundings, crockery cutlery all beautiful, but alas you can not eat beauty. Not sure if our waitress was dippy, or just a temp on for Sunday lunch, when my husband asked for a larger no clue as what was available, went away and we were told only Perroni which was fine, our friend ordered a glass of wine, which eventually arrived after asking twice where it was. Now onto the food, we all ordered the smoked chicken and lobster pate, in fact it was a terrine (we were in the food business for over 40 years, and normally don't write or complain about a meal in restaurants because of this fact) the so called lobster was so small one tail would of fed the whole restaurant. Onto mains I ordered the roast beef which was tasty and our male friend the lamb roast which he really enjoyed, a serving of cauliflower cheese was put in front of him, and he was not told that I should of shared it with him, my husband ordered the cod.....it was as big as a 50 pence price it is described as including Brixham crab roasted carrot and sea herb, he could not find any of that, my friend gave him his yorkshire pudding and some cauliflower cheese, I gave him my biggest potato and parsnip, so he now had something on his plate to eat. Our lady friend has a very small appetite and ate most of her risotto. Desserts hubby and male friend had vanilla and blueberry financier these came on a huge plate and it was hardly a fingers width it looked beautiful tasted OK, the problem arose when our lady friend wanted a sorbet, and I wanted fresh fruit as I am diabetic 3 times our dippy waitress asked what I wanted for dessert, and 3 times I told her fresh fruit please eventually a bowl of berries arrived. Now on to coffee our friend ordered a double espresso and hubby asked for a decaf coffee with hot milk, after a few minutes he was told no decaff coffee, OK do you have decaff tes yes, so the drinks arrived the espresso coffee no saucer or spoon, the tea in the smallest tea cup we have ever seen ready made half filled, then he was asked do you want hot or cold milk, cold was the reply and by the time it arrived the tea was cold at £6 each extra disgusting. During the meal the the fire alarm went off, we were first told that it was a practise drill, we were then asked to leave and gather near the front it was freezing cold very windy as it was the weekend of the recent storms, no one took charge we were backwards and forwards twice no one knew what to do. To top it of my husband phoned on the Monday and spoke to the duty manager who told him that the restaurant manager would call him on Wednesday well today is Friday and no one has called me hence this stinking review. my husband was so hungry that evening that I had to make him dinner

Extremely good restaurant with fantastic views. Great for lunch at the weekend if you are not actually staying at the hotel, or a treat for a special occasion. This is the first time I have been in a few years, but the quality is just as good as always.

Have just returned home from a perfect lunch hosted by the Wernher Restaurant at Luton Hoo. Sharon and her staff gave us excellent service and the food with its subtle flavours was delicious. We would highly recommend the restaurant and we look forward to enjoying another lunch there again soon

Great atmosphere and style, great wine, good staff and service but the food was way below pre pandemic levels

My second birthday celebration as the original in Adam's Brassiere at Luton Hoo was very disappointing, The team handled my complaint very professionally and today we had a 3 course lunch in the Wernher Restaurant. The environment is traditional with views of the garden. I wasn't sure about the combination of foods for the starter and dessert but I thoroughly enjoyed them. A good solid Sunday roast, which was really tasty. I left feeling satisfied and having enjoyed the flavours. Kamel was an excellent host with a young team. All exceptionally polite and attentive. Pleasantly surprised.

Having visited the dinning room before, for two special occasions, my husband booked a return visit, with friends, for my 60th birthday. What a spectacular place it is ! From the moment you arrive you are made to feel special. Couldn’t fault our wonderful table with a lovely views of the gardens. The food was out of this world there was nothing that the four of us would have changed , from the quality of food for each of our choices, presentation or the excellent service from kamal ,joynul, reeves from all involved. Faultless. Everyone goes out of their way to make it every visit special, and they certainly succeed. A fabulous evening that I can’t recommend highly enough!

Unfortunately had a really terrible experience at the restaurant last night. The service is shocking I haven't experienced such poor, slow and disorganised service in many years. We were a group of 7 and got given 6 bread rolls and told they didnt haven't anymore. We had to ask and continue to chase for drinks, to order food, to order more drinks throughout the whole evening. Not once did any staff pour any wine or water. Food was good and a reasonable selection of choice. We asked the restaurant manager to come over so we could address some of the initial issues and even he agreed the service is rubbish and done nothing. We then asked to speak with the hotel manager but was told it was the same manager. After the meal we went to the lounge for drinks and had to search for staff for service. Found three of them standing chatting around the corner. Absolutely poor service. It needs some better management and staff.

The food isn't adventurous but it's very well done. Well-presented, nicely flavoured, good portion sizes for formal dining. Staff were friendly and professional, efficient and attentive.

Last sunday my two friends and I had an amazing and fabulous sunday lunch at the Wernher Restaurant. The food was very tasty, presented extremely well and very good portions. The setting at luton hoo is simple wonderul inside and outside, walking around the grounds too. I had the Confit Chicken and Rabbit Terrine for starter, then Roast Rump of Cornish Lamb for main, with Caramelised Apple Tart for dessert. All delicious with a window view! The staff were warm, welcoming, very professional and went over and above to give us the best service possible. We were served by Joynal, Kemal, Lara and Reevens - i highly recommend them and look forward to my next visit at Luton Hoo. Thank you all very much.

We visited the Wernher restaurant recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary & absolutely loved it. The food was gorgeous, the ambiance exquisite & the service impeccable. It was also incredibly reasonably priced in a stunning setting. The staff in the restaurant were so extremely attentive, polite, friendly, helpful & their attention to detail was phenomenal. We really can’t wait to visit again for a lovely Sunday lunch.
