I stayed here whilst travelling with work. The location is brilliant and easy to find. Once arriving the staff were friendly, showed us to our rooms and courteous when we were working late into the evenings. The rooms are brilliant, comfy beds and great shower facilities.Easy access to nearby motorways, and in a great country area.Highly recommend to anyone, work or pleasure!Rooms: Great, tidy and clean rooms. Feel homely which is welcome when spending time away from the family.Food & drinks: Great selection of food options and drinks. Recommend the burger, colleagues had a salad which they enjoyed.

We had a great relaxing and stress free stay at Carnarvon Arms. Our room was newly refurbished and comfy. Staff was very polite and helpful. Thankfully they had a power converter for us. Breakfast was fantastic. We highly recommend.Nearby activities: It's very close to Highclere castle and not far from Winchester.

5 Star Sunday Roast. One of the very best in the area and well worth a visit. Food is superbly cooked and good sized plate!

What a lovely place. It looks like a National Trust place, with a lovely atmosphere. It’s a great place to meet friends. We only went to meet friends and have lunch. The food was very tasty and the service was impeccable.

Spur of the moment decision to go somewhere nice and not been to for years. Service was very good and welcoming. The food was perfect and arrived at the table piping hot. Usually my wife had a Haddock meal and even loved the batter (chip shop batter she always peel off. I had a steak meal.... perfect. Thank you for your prompt service. Will visit again very soon,Food & drinks: Limited menu but it's not a fast food chain or a café. Well worth the trip out.

A very disappointing meal indeed. The popcorn chicken starter was a huge disappointment - a tiny ramekin of popcorn essentially with some "chicken flavoured" crumbs but no real flavour and impossible to eat the flavoured pieces without a spoon and charged at £4.00, really not good and not sure it was delivered as described - a small packet of crisps would have been more appetising! Our two bavette steaks were ordered medium rare and both came well done (these were returned for a better cooked steak and a burger.) The fish & chips was dry. Overall the meals were hugely disappointing. The staff were attentive and friendly but if we hadn't asked for the drilling from the builders above to stop that would have carried on also. A real shame because the whole experience, a birthday lunch, was hugely disappointing, we all went home feeling rather let down. This was just not good value for money at all.Food & drinks: A very disappointing meal indeed. I visited with three friends during the week, and found a warm and welcoming pub with a good range of draught beers and an interesting looking menu. Service was prompt, courteous and efficient. The food was really excellent, though our only criticism was that the portion sizes (for four strapping lads) could have slightly more generous. However the Pork Belly was first class and the Peanut Butter cheesecake was perfect. We would definitely return and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy hostelry close to the A34.

Booked a small birthday meal on Sunday where staff decorated the table with balloons etc we’d given prior.Manager noticed we weren’t happy sitting next to wet dogs in bar area & before we could ask offered a better table in restaurant! Also adjusted bill when chocolate drink wasn’t quite hot enough AFTER replacing it!Faultless food & service you’d want to tip, thank you & see you againRoger & friends

Good food and service.Warm atmosphere.

Very friendly and accommodating staff, but not the best service mainly due to staff shortages. Disappointing that pre-ordered food was not available and rooms not turned down on day two, but we'd stay again and hope these things were improved.

We stayed here for one night for a visit to Highclere Castle so was very convenient for this. Very nice rooms not particularly large but good for a short stay. Very friendly staff with a warm welcome. We had a spot of lunch, an evening meal and breakfast the food was all very tasty and a selection. Overall would recommend this hotel and restaurants to anyone.

Very pleasant little hotel/pub. Extremely close to Highclere Castle. Highly recommended.Rooms: The room was nice, except the bathroom. The shower cabinet was very small and too high up to move in and out safely.Nearby activities: Highclere Castle. HIGHLY recommended!Food & drinks: The food is excellent. Our supper and breakfast was very delicious in a romantic and cosy atmosphere. The staff were very friendly.
