One of the best breakfasts in Bristol. Very busy when I went (Sunday morning) so book ahead.

I booked breakfast for my team to celebrate my retirement after 42 years. I was not disappointed. Good food, friendly staff and happy co-workers and friends. Well recommended.

This place is a surprising little gem! Great food & service from friendly staff, open early for breakfast through to late afternoon. Contemporary décor with plenty of seating both inside & out, the latter being very popular with both dog walkers & cyclists alike.I will definitely look to stop here again next time I'm passing, very recommended!

Came to this establishment several times before and usually enjoy this place, but today I have experienced racism first hand from the owner. Who spoke down and terribly at me and my guest as my guest entered. He further told us to leave just because i told him he didn’t have to be rude. Made a big scene and tried to humiliate my guests who travelled down out of town to celebrate her birthday and we wanted to have breakfast…In my whole 20 years of living in Bristol I have never experienced such rudeness and prejudice. I further didn’t want to cause a scene and said I’ll pay for my guest’s coffee as that’s all we’ve had so far which he shouted no we don’t want your money. I insisted that I don’t want anything free from him.He gave me the receipt and came up to me angry and said the lady that served us found out 2 days ago that her husband had terminal cancer and she doesn’t need to be given a hard time and he implied that’s what we might do. He complained that we were a big group (I called a week in advance to reserve a table for 15, he didn’t seem to have a problem them until he saw the people). It tells a lot about the owner and shame on you! Letting an employee that’s going through the worst time of her life come to work (instead of giving her time off to be with her loved ones) and try to use that as an excuse for your ugly behaviour towards customers. He pride himself on being rude and said he was the owner and the rude one. It’s a shame people like you are still around in our world today.I understand that everyone has a bad day, this guy has previously been decent but todays experience was awful and It’s never okay (regardless of whatever has happened) to treat anyone how you’ve treated my guests and I.

A delicious lunch, fab atmosphere and brilliant service as always at Lockside. Gary and the team really helped make Mother’s Day special for our group of 8. The sunshine and sitting out on the terrace was a unexpected bonus! My salmon fishcakes were so tasty and my husband said his seafood linguine was better than he had in any Italian restaurant, loads of fish and even scallops! If you’ve never been - this really is a must. Booking recommended as it gets booked up quick. Can’t wait to come back soon.

another trip advisor find....and again, thank you to the staff member who asked whether we had booked and then jiggled tables around to squeeze us in cos we hadn't!! The restaurant was well presented and clean; the staff efficient and friendly; and the place busy with families and groups of friends. It was a really pleasant atmosphere to have breakfast!! As for the food....well it was delicious. Well cooked, well balanced and well priced. It is certainly easy to see why this place is so popular. And worth booking at the weekend.

We have just had another excellent lunch here, sitting outside in warm sunshine, with first class service. I cannot recommend Lockside Cafe more highly. A party of 4 adults, a 3-year old and a dog, we were warmly welcomed (though with a dog we had to sit outside, which is fine). Their consideration for my granddaughter and for the dog was above and beyond and made our visit all the more relaxed and enjoyable.

Lovely fishcakes and smoked haddock - both not overly salty. The others liked their burger and excellent breakfast. Busy and quite noisy when we arrived, which made hearing each other across the large table a bit tricky but it was fine when the party next to us left.

Delicious food. I think best to book to avoid disappointment. You’d easily miss it as it’s location is quite unusual underneath the overpass. But don’t let that turn you away. Not to be missed in Bristol!

Lived down the road from this place for over a year and never gave it a go. Can’t believe what I was missing. Solid menu with a variety of choices. The owner and staff were very accommodating even when I wanted to book a table last minute.

As occasional visitors to this café we always have a great time and the food is always lovely! Today we brought our two puppies and the staff were extremely welcoming of them. They had some lovely treats and they even cooked some scrambled eggs for them which the pups adored ? Thank you so much for being so friendly with them. They had such a good time, and we look forward to bringing them again - maybe when the weather gets a bit warmer though ?
