We were given a given voucher for here and told it was lovely so was looking forward to some nice Italian food. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to our expectations. There was a bit of an odd smell as soon as you walk through the door, which wasn’t a good start. The waitress was polite and gave us a choice of tables.My wife had the linguini and ‘spicy’ meatballs, I had a pizza and my son had a kids chicken goujons. The pizza was supposed to be spicy but was rather bland but not too bad. The meatballs were the size of tennis balls, they were so dry in the middle it was difficult to pick them up on a fork, they tasted like cheap burgers. My son’s goujons tasted of chip fat, the fries it came with reminded me of the scraps you used to get for free from a chip shop and were covered in salt.Personally I wouldn’t return, the place was dirty, the fire escape door we were sat by was filthy, the ovens looked stained with fat, if you’re going to have a kitchen that’s visible to customers it should be spotless.

It was a very busy Saturday evening and for some reason everywhere we went had no table available but The Italian Kitchen had space for us. We’re glad we ended up here as not only the food was delicious and authentic but the menu also had a range of Italian dishes. It went from pizza, pastas, to seafood, to steaks, to different meats. We enjoyed it and even though it was super busy, the atsmosphere was lively and great! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends and family! Price was also decent!

The food tasted lovely with very generous portions at a reasonable price. Service was faultless, I never felt the need to get the attention of staff as they were quick to take our order and checked if we wanted another when our drinks were running low, they were attentive without feeling intrusive.Vegetarian options: Multiple vegi pizzas/pasta dishes, lots of vegi starters. Great for vegetarians although vegans may be a bit limited.

We recently moved to the local area so this was our first time here. We bought the (older) children and everyone enjoyed their evening. A lovely welcome from the lady when we arrived, sat down right away and drinks arrived quickly. We all ordered a different dish, which all arrived hot and were delicious. My wife and I didn’t have desserts but the children did, home made desserts and large portions. All staff we experienced were friendly and we will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely evening in our new area!
Was lovely to see a restaurant so busy and buzzing. It’s clear why! The Sunday lunch is the best lunch we have ever had, Jimmy & Jen are so welcoming and it’s really good to see Jen managing the younger staff, (who also work so hard) It all works and is why we come at least once a month. Awful service, especially when I had booked a table for two. Arrived with no acknowledgement from young staff and clearly confused from prior booking. Perhaps it was because it was just two. Groups are better identified maybe. Anyway, not acceptable as acknowledgement from bar staff would be grateful but clearly not tolerated from this level of establishment. Get a grip. Train staff to a level of satisfaction and welcoming, its not difficult. ?

Great food and pricing is reasonable, but the service and restaurant itself is a bit tired.We were served by about 4 different people, the menus we were given were stained and mine had a corner missing.A few of the seats were ripped, cutlery provided in buckets (some of which not clean), starters were served on two different colour plates while the main came on a white plate. Above our table there was a flickering light, which was the last of about 4 other bulbs in the same fixture that had gone out.The place just needs some TLC. As I said, the food itself was very good.
