First time here. Quite pricey, but it was a special occasion and we had some gift cards to use, so manageable. Excellent food, beautifully cooked, and very attentive and helpful staff. Surroundings surprisingly ordinary, but the food and service made up for it. Would recommend you try it out.Parking: Parked in council car park behind Tesco's - 5 minute walkWheelchair accessibility: Steps to the front door, and steps inside to the restaurant and upstairs to the ladies toilets.

Tasting menu and wine pairing were amazing for the price. Personally have preferred something more interesting for the dessert (though by this point we were almost too full to have it!)

Came for the valentines tasting menu!Let’s start with the positives:Great food - esp the later courses- super yummy great flavours !!!Staff were friendly and nice !Nice venue!Negatives on this occasion:Slow service - had to wait over 30mins for the 2nd course to come out.Hair in my food in one of the dishesLack of real apology / trying to rectify the above.Appreciate its valentines so not sure if secondary to that.

This restaurant is outstanding. We went for the lunch time set menu and I can't believe what you get for the price. It well exceeded expectations. Each dish was perfectly cook and a good size (for me), with delicious flavors and the service was impeccable. What more could you ask for?! The restaurant is not the coziest and it was a little cold but that did not detract from the meal. Highly recommend.

The waitng servers were very attentive, helpful and on point. The venue is beautiful as is the location it is sited . The food was a total disappointment which we were really surprised about as our expectation was that it was going to be good. For starter i had the squid which was like cheap frozen squid from the supermarket - i sent mine back. The lady on the table next to us made same comments but didn’t send it back. It needs to be done well not like this, it’s such poor quality, tough to eat and cheap. For the main i had paneer tikka masala - i had two pieces of paneer and very little sauce- i ended up pinching some of my husbands sauce from the butter chicken as i had so little food.i had the raspberry tart for desert - it was tough and felt like a ready made case that had been filled - whether it was or not it was hard and tough to eat and cut.As i say the waiting team were great but the food was not, i would not return, recommend or visit any of the other restaurants that we were planning to do based on this visit.

We stayed at the Crown Hotel & had the New Year's eve menu & wine flight. The dining room was nice & the staff were a little distracted at first but got better as the night wore on. This was our first experience of Mr Kochar's food & it was different & tasty. The wines were also excellent. We moved through to the bar to welcome in the New Year & the kitchen staff came out & danced to some Indian music which was truly joyous since they'd had such a busy night. Since been to Vaasu at Marlow for lunch & was a bit underwhelmed by staff & atmosphere.

A very small menu, but really varied and tasty twists on classic dishes. Salmon was delicious and the pistacchio kofti was too. Like all restaraunts they squeeze the pips on drink prices, but you have a choice not to buy. Would recommend a visit and would return.

Despite having this spot on our doorstep - this was our first visit. We really enjoyed our meal. Fish dishes can easily be overcooked and these were all perfect. I always seem to choose the lamb dishes and the spiced lamb chop was just right.Add in a couple of well made cocktails to start and we had a lovely evening finished off with a couple of drinks in the bar. There's a number of menus meaning there should be something for everyone. Will definitely be going again.

Our visit was marred by a series of regrettable incidents. To begin, the food, typically a highlight of our visits, was consistently served at an inadequate temperature. Despite multiple attempts to address this concern, the issue persisted, significantly diminishing our enjoyment of the meal. This was particularly disheartening for our vegetarian guest, who had to dine separately. Polite requests, such as my brother's plea for a water bottle refill to the general manager Rohan Dixit, were met with unexpected rudeness and disrespect, including the suggestion to walk around and fetch it himself as they were too busy. When seeking clarification, the general manager not only shouted at my brother but also exhibited behaviour inconsistent with the professionalism we expect from an esteemed establishment. When my brother requested an apology for the disrespectful treatment, the general manager outright refused to provide one. This refusal contradicts the fundamental principles of customer service that we believe should be upheld in any customer facing establishment. The overall service fell far below the standard. This experience has left us questioning the reputation that initially drew us to this restaurant. Caution to those seeking insult-free dining: reconsider visiting this establishment!

Christmas lunch today was our 3rd year ant Hawkyns and it was not good. The service was haphazard eg wine pairings came mid way through the course. The Turkey dinner was basically inedible.. the meat was not breast as per other two years but dark and tough. The Brussels sprouts were burnt and the stuffing was like something from a Paxo packet. The only elements worth mentioning were the Dahl, rice and garlic naan. We were a party of 3 and when desert/canapés served I person was given an individual plate and the remaining two had to share with no other plate to eat from. Desert elements were missing from the plate given for two and I have never had to share a plate with a fellow diner whilst I tried to eat my desert!!As we had coffee tables were being dismantled as would happen end of the day not whilst diners still eating … another table were still eating. Overall our Christmas lunch was not enjoyable and we shall not be returning. Such a shame as Christmas 2021/22 very enjoyable, food delicious and service exceptional.

The food was good, however, the service needs working on. We were left waiting in the bar well past the time we had booked the table..they had forgotten us. Made our way to the Table which was tiny... we both ordered the full tasting menu and the wine flight and both left “hungry”. When we asked for more food the kitchen was apparently closed. Stayed an hour talking only to see food on the table of the private dining party… Left feeling like a spare part and somewhat discriminated against.. I won’t return until the service improves. The waiter also knocked my wine over soaking my top, jeans and jacket. I wasn’t too bothered about this, as mistake’s happen.. on reflection the table was so small and busy it was an accident waiting to happen. Got home, made a sandwich and devoured a mince pie just to fill the void…

I met a friend for a cup of coffee here. Neither of us had been before, both of us are local. We sat at the back of the bar and ordered coffees. I'm not sure what happened next, but an entire, fresh cup of latte was launched all over me. The young man who had been carrying the coffee was very apologetic. I was relatively calm, considering that I was wearing a new, expensive, jumper, and very fortunate that the coffee was a latte, and therefore luke warm. The coffee also missed a brand new white coat by inches. The 'management' did not appear to know what to do. Another young man in a suit drifted towards us and away again several times in an ineffectual manner. My friend suggested that they pay for the dry cleaning of my clothes - he went away, came back after some time, and mumbled something about sending the jumper to the hotel's dry cleaner. I said that I would prefer to use my own dry cleaner. He went away again. I asked for a business card from him, twice. He drifted off again. I didn't receive a meaningful apology from him, let alone a business card. We were provided with replacement coffees, twice, as it took a considerable time for someone in authority to speak to me. I was wet through, and not inclined to remain there, but we needed to wait for some sort of resolution/gesture from Hawkyns. Eventually, a 'manager' arrived and agreed, at our suggestion I may add, that if I invoiced them, they would cover the dry cleaning of the jumper. Unfortunately, when I returned home, it transpired that the jumper was not able to be dry cleaned, so I had to hand wash it, and wash my trousers. I wrote to the manager via an e mail address that he provided, to express my disappointment in our visit. I am still awaiting a response. Accidents happen, but the way in which they are handled can make the difference between a customer who will return, and one who will not go there again.
