We assumed we were surely on a hiding to nothing, looking for somewhere that could do lunch for 37 at 24hrs' notice. Enter the Harte & Magpies.I'd been here before as a kid and remembered the play area was great, and now with about a dozen kids in our group we thought this would be a great place for a Sunday lunch with friends.Simon and Steve were exceptional hosts and it was clear that nothing was too much trouble for them. We ordered in advance, and they communicated really well with us both on that and on the day itself re. when the chefs would start cooking etc.The food was delicious, prepared promptly and 37 guests' meals all arrived at the same time, and piping hot. We were really impressed. The kids also had a blast in the garden and the play area.The Harte & Magpies is a great pub, really nice atmosphere and staffed by a fantastic team. The food and beers were great, and we were happy with the prices.Thanks so much Simon, Steve and team.Chris et al.Vegetarian options: We had vegetarians and vegans in our group, all of whom were catered for.Kid-friendliness: We had a dozen or more marauding kids and they were all made welcome.

I for one am really pleased that traditional pubs like this still exist. Been visiting once a year around Christmas for the past 8 or so years and it had never disappointed.Really good food, a decent range of beers too. Only negative was it was a tiny bit cold but tis literally the middle of winter. Look forward to returning in 2024

We held my mother's wake at the Harte & Magpies and we were glad we did. We received a warm welcome, the service was excellent and the food was great. They set aside an area in the bar for our use, which was perfect and we were able to congregate and

OMG- went for their Christmas dinner and I can’t say enough good things. The stuffing was incredible, as was the turkey (Yorkshire pudding the size of my face). The hot seafood salad had wonderful flavors. The staff made it a lovely evening. I love coming here and this is now my new Christmas tradition!

Very disappointed with the Goat cheese salad! Supposed to be Goat cheese with roasted vegetables and croutons! None of these but a bed of salad leaves sliced tomatoes and cucumber! Shame the cheese was good though!
