Had the Christmas lunch. You expect to pay more on 25th December, but at £125 a head you expect something special. It wasn't. The salmon starter was tiny. The Turkey dinner had 2 tiny piglets in blankets, a tiny bit of stuffing and the only veg was cabbage and sprouts. No pork as advertised and no gammon. Service was very slow, cheese board took 45 minutes to arrive because it had to be 'perfect'. It was cheese sliced up. Best avoided on Christmas day imo.

I went to celebrate my best friend's birthday (the pub having been recommended by her sister). Parking was easy, with the car park immediately in front of the pub. The interior was warm and cosy, with a fire burning. Two real ales were "on" - Rebellion IPA and Timothy Taylor Landlord. Both were in good condition. The others in the party found wine and spirits which suited their personal tastes. I had already looked at the dinner menu on-line, but be prepared for a large board of "specials" (from which many of us ordered). Service was excellent - the two people looking after us were attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. As for the food - WOW! Their chef and his/her team delivered well presented food, which was delicious and enjoyed by everyone. The pub is dog friendly and has a resident, well mannered, canine. This pub has a Trip Advisor "Travellers Choice Winner" award for 2023. This convinced me to go there - let it do the same for you. You will not be disappointed!

Rubbish pub and people, made a lunch booking for a walking group of twenty plus as their website stated "walking Groups are a speciality, sent out all the details, only to be contacted by the pub a couple of weeks later saying they had had a better offer and we needed to rebook on a different day. Luckily we had another pub in Amersham to go to. Probably just as well we ended up with twenty eight hungry and very thirsty walkers to be fed. We won't be booking here again.

We gathered here after my mum's funeral for some food, drinks and time to connect. Mary had everything read and she and her staff were very attentive. The food was fresh and tasty, and the space was perfect with tables and chairs for our party of 30. A few locals gathered at the bar, which helped to bring a sense of normality.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with friends. The roast was delicious but on the expensive side for £23.00 - felt let down by then being charged an extra £5.00 when my friend and I asked for extra gravy. I can understand not putting a lot of gravy on the roast when not everyone is a gravy lover but don't charge extra when its not enough.

From the first point of enquiry Mary was very helpful and on the evening everything was spot on, all staff very friendly and we all enjoyed the food. I definitely will be returning for a meal with my family soon! Thank you all at The Red Lion for a wonderful evening.

I had soup to start...Red pepper and pesto with gorgeous sourdough bread. The soup was the best I have ever eaten. The pie was beautiful, tarragon and great quality ingredients stood out. Lovely country pub atmosphere. I absolutely recommend.
