I came here on Sunday and had amazing food excellently recommended by our attentive waiter Soli. He provided us with not only the necessities of a good service but went that extra mile to make our experience here one to remember.

On arrival we had a warming welcome. We had a bar table and ordered food, the lad that served us was a bit arrogant. All he was interested in was telling other staff that last orders was at 9:30pm and we’d be out the door by 10pm. Whilst we was eating, which the food was fantastic. I was the barman make some cocktails, I was horrified to watch him squeeze lemons into glasses by using his hands. Then he proceeded to wipe his hands on his shirt and carried on making the drinks. It was a bit off putting to witness this, knowing full well the training etc M and B put their staff through

As a regular diner I was very disappointed with our seating. I was treating my 92 year old mother and we were put in the upper part of the restaurant which was cold and then you offer some blow heaters in that area. There was no atmosphere what’s so ever as the next diners arrived 45 mins later so we were basically echoing our voices . We asked to move and was declined as the tables were linked to the orders. The mealScallops although cooked nicely were a bit fishy!Traditional turkey. The pig in blanket tasted bland as if. BroiledThe sausage meat wrapped in bacon was small with no real flavour. The turkey was tough and chewyThe cabbage with peas was undercooked.Brussels spouts we’re so undercooked. Which suggested frozenYou may question if we complained we did however we the reality was it’s a very busy time and we may of received a similar meal experience. We were very disappointed which is such a shame on a festive occasion. The manager although very pleasant clearly had his hands tied in the day!We respect the whole try’s to make an effort but on this occasion it did meet our usual culinary experience.

Stopped for coffee, after a stroll around town. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Would recommend a visit.

Positives:Good food on the whole, with the exception of the sprouts, which were absolutely rock solid. The venue itself is a charming place with character.Bar staff were fantastic.Negatives:Missed one person for the first course. We had to request another plate of food.Service was so rushed, we had to ask for a break in-between courses. It almost felt like we were being pushed out the door as quick as possible. With a few exceptions the waiting staff seemed miserable, but I must stress a few were lovely and attentive.Parsnips missing from my main meal (sadly I love them).Definitely not worth £95 per head.

Brilliant customer service from Soli, our waiter. Food was lovely, perfect spot for a meal on a special occasion. Vegan options were good.

We came in for a Christmas Party on Monday evening and we were served by the amazing Maya T for the whole night. The drinks order, in particular, was taken very well and came out nice and promptly. Maya had such good knowledge about the drinks menu and what was in the cocktails, and made excellent recommendations. Her wine knowledge was also very impressive. When asked about allergens, this was dealt with so well and again her knowledge about each dish was great. Maya was so attentive the whole night which was very much appreciated - and had a great sense of humour too which we loved! The food was delicious - especially the Christmas roasts. We asked for extra gravy and sauces was again attended to well. Desserts were also very nicely presented and tasted great. Thank you so much for the lovely experience and we will be coming back very soon.

We chose to meet here because there was a vegan in the group (and there seemed to be a vegan option for each course). However, the waitress informed us that the starter and main vegan were both not available. This was a disappointment. Once we asked her to consult her manager regarding this situation, she was able to provide a meze starter. For mains, the vegan was able to order the nutrition bowl, which was her sorted. Two of us ordered the creamy mushrooms. They were not creamy and were cool to warm, again quite flavourless. The others had starters, and they were happy with theirs. For mains, I had the nutrition bowl with added chicken. The chicken was mainly skin in my case. The others found their mains ok - good. One of the others ordered banana flower for mains. This should have come with tartare sauce and mushy peas. Neither were on the actual plate and had to be requested. The desserts looked and were delicious. However, everything came very slowly. My hot chocolate late came and became cool by the time the crumble arrived. The custard came later still. By the time i actually had my full dessert.... the crumble was cool, as was the custard and the hot chocolate. The other desserts looked good and tasted good, but it would be better if everything was served together, so we're not waiting. So overall quite a slow disappointing meal. I'm not dure if the waiting staff was new or what but was fairly relaxed in the service. Can't say that I will be returning anytime soon.

Greeted by friendly staff. We ordered the pan roasted lamb rump. Food and service was excellent. Looked after by AJ and Kayla. I’ve eaten there in the past and not impressed. I think the food has definitely improved. Well done to the Chef. Would definitely recommend.

We arrived for extra festival menu at 3:30pm. There was eleven in our party. At this time, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. There was probably another two tables with smaller parties. It took around 20 minutes for waiting staff to take orders for our welcome drink and another 15 minutes to deliver them. We noticed that the waiting staff were doubling up as bar & restaurant staff. Considering I received a message the day of our booking that we only had the table for 2 hours, this wasn't going well. If I knew we only had the table for 2 hours, then I wouldn't have booked. Throughout service, it took another 30 minutes for waiting staff to return and take our food orders. This only happened when I approached waiting staff and asked when they were going to take our order. After which service was sporadic at best. Food wasn't delivered to all in party at once. Some would get starters, then others would get there's later. This was how our service went for the rest of the night. After desert, the final cocktail took so long to be served that we eventually gave up and checked out. Bill totalled £1,037. We checked out at 8:30pm. 5 hours to serve us! Absolutely ridiculous! Food was good though. Waiting staff did state that they were shortly staffed. By the time we were leaving, the restaurant was full. I'm glad I didn't come in when you were busy. I have no complaints about the waiting staff. They certainly looked under a lot of pressure. But as once a year company Christmas Dinner for my staff then I can only say I will never book there again.

Stopped in with my wife for Sunday lunch, food was good, confident waitresses and friendly bartenders, however we heard the song "Smooth operator" play more then 4 times throughout our lunch. Needless to say, it got very old and tedious.

Visited Thursday evening for dinner. Food was good, hot and tasty. Didn’t have to wait long once we had (finally) ordered. However, we were shown to our table and after 20 minutes, after no one came to ask us what we would like to drink, my partner gave up and went and got our drinks from the bar. Sadly we weren’t alone, so many people gave up waiting for their drinks, they too went to the bar to get them. Partner wanted the steak and Malbec pie, none left. So he opted for lamb rump, none left! It would’ve have been nice to have been told this when we were given the menus. Felt sorry for the waitresses, obviously run off their feet. We would’ve stayed for dessert, but decided to get the bill and leave. Our evening wasn’t spoiled, but it could’ve been so much better.

Stopped of sometimes to at this pub, this time for a quick drink. On previous visits have had drink and chips which are very good and tasty. A nice place with plenty of seating and very well placed in the Old Town. Parking can be a bit of a problem. The only problem is that if you are a man, and want to use the loo, they have 2 cubicles in the gents, and both have no hooks on the doors for coats etc. As we are near winter this can be a problem! Have mentioned this before, but nothing is done! Good pub, poor loos/management. Will go again however bearing in mind the above!.

Terrible experience and service! I ordered food which came out covered in meat under a sauce, despite the fact I made it very clear I am a vegetarian. The waitress made a note on the order, as this usually contains pancetta; however, the kitchen clearly did not bother to read. I was very upset eating this, as this has NEVER happened to me before in all my 26 years of being vegetarian. There are serious allergies to take into consideration when preparing food, so it is highly concerning this restaurant does not bother to accommodate/ check their orders. To top this off, the restaurant promised me a voucher via email to say sorry…which they did not bother to send. This service completely ruined my evening.Vegetarian options: PoorDietary restrictions: Poor
