We went to the Valentine supper club - the food was delicious but enormous portions! The setting was beautiful - we thought it might feel a bit like the cafe it is during the day, but the white linen cloths and floral arrangements together with gentle lighting and music made it feel very comfortable and cosy. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and charming (particular thanks to Faith!). We'll be back!

Disappointed with the Christmas afternoon tea. Sandwiches still with crusts on, savoury pastries served cold, scones & shortbread hard and very dry.VERY expensive for what we got. (£26 per head!)On a positive note, the coffee was lovely as were the staff. Very clean and nice restaurant too.

A lovely place. Friendly and helpful staff, delicious food and good value. Have visited for coffee and cake (a great stop if you’re cycling) and the supper club evenings are a great price with superb food. Highly recommend a visit.

Visited The Phoenix Kitchen today afternoon tea & we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were lovely & the food was delicious, from the sandwiches to the cakes & scones. We were kept topped up with tea, so we went away very satisfied. Would definitely recommend.

Disappointed to find this wasn’t a National Trust cafe . Had a pot of tea each and a scone to share. It came with cream and jam . Husband asked for a butter and was told that the chef said ‘no’ , we couldn’t have butter too!!! Cost £9.70 and they couldn’t afford to give us 1 knob of butter? The customer resistance department….and the scone wasn’t that fresh either!

Just enjoyed our afternoon tea and bubbles at Phoenix Kitchen (was an Xmas gift from family). Lovely sandwiches with bread from local bakery, mini home made quiche and sausage roll delicious followed by fruit scone, brownie and cake. Very enjoyable and made all the better by the great staff. Lorraine in particular very helpful and we thought she coped beautifully with a difficult customer! Will definitely be back....

Met a friend at Claydon House for a walk, to see the house and have lunch. Rain stopped play for the walk so we started our catch up with lunch in The Phoenix Kitchen. We had an amazing lunch and lovely home produced apple juice. The menu had lots of choice with gluten free choices available as well. We liked the friendly atmosphere so much we popped back for a cup of tea after our trip around the house.

Went for afternoon tea and it was the worse afternoon tea I have ever had, and I've had a lot. The cake selection consisted of a slice of chocolate brownie and a small slice of shortcake. The Scone was more like a rock cake, couldn't be sliced as it just crumbled as it was so hard. Nothing like the picture on the website.

We had a lovely lunch here before going round the house and gardens. The Welsh rarebit was delicious! We came back for tea and cake and, despite being quite busy still, the service was excellent. The staff are always so helpful and friendly ?

I have noticed that the quality of the food has started to go downhill on my last few visits to this cafe, in particular since their new opening hours. This is a slippery slope when management start to obviously cost cut every way they can. I would rather they keep higher standards/ food quality and charge a bit more.

So our afternoon tea was certainly not the best ever in relation to our sandwiches or scones. With only three quarters of a sandwich, half a lemon cake and egg shell in our hard scones, things weren’t looking great. However what I can say is our experience was made so special by the exemplary service of Amy who looked after us. She offered the most kindest and considerate approach in every aspect of her service, and really made our experience so positive and special. She checked where we were preferred to sit and arranged for us to sit outside in the beautiful sunshine under an umbrella. She checked up on us throughout our afternoon tea. She offered great advice and information on the places to visit within the grounds and did this all with a beautiful smile. Not only was she warm and engaging, but after telling her about how the flapjacks on our afternoon tea were the nicest I have ever tasted in my entire life, (and I really do love a good flapjack), she shared that they were made by herself! I couldn’t believe that they were made by her, as they tasted better than shop bought from Harrods or Fortnum & Mason! They just were so soft, fresh, sweet and delicious. She also shared how she had made the amazing rocky road cakes too! Wow, what a talent and such a huge asset she is the this coffee shop! Not only did she change our ‘not so great’ experience into something fabulous, but she equally is talented enough to be entered for Bake-Off or Masterchef! Thank you Amy for making our day so amazing and for changing my 1 star review to a 5 star review, you are worth your weight in gold!❤️

I came here for afternoon tea. The staff here were friendly. They provided us a menu with the variety of drinks to choose from. When they brought the food, they explained what each food item was (which I found really helpful as not every afternoon tea place does this). They checked on us whilst we were eating to check if everything was OK. I recommend the scone and the Victoria sponge cake, which had a really nice vanilla flavour to it. I do enjoy the sweet treats here, so I would probably come back again for some more tea and cake.Parking: Car park fills up quickly.

Nice friendly staff, however I did feel that disappointed with price and lack of stock.. It was 3pm on a Saturday and sandwiches were out of stock and this should be more stocked up. Also flapjack I ordered purchased was £3.50 which I felt was overpriced. Along with £2.50 for coke with no ice or lemon available.

We had a Buy a gift voucher and I had emailed in advance to find out the menu options. It turns out the menu published on the website is only for people who buy afternoon tea directly through Phoenix Kitchen and that the alternative menu wasn't available to view. I had to go back and ask again if I could have an idea of the food options and this time I received a list of food via email. All went smoothly with the booking and we were given our pots of tea soon after arrival. However when the food arrived, we were surprised at how little there was. We had 3 finger sandwiches, one mini quiche, a mini Victoria sponge and a scone with jam & cream each. I assumed the reduced amount of food was due to us using a voucher but when I got home and checked my email. I realised there were several items missing. We should have had a chocolate brownie and a sausage roll in addition to what we had. I also noticed that people who buy directly get more cakes as well. Funnily enough, our server did comment that most people have to take some of the food home as there is usually too much. Now we know why we were able to eat it all! We were a bit disappointed and we didn't think it was fair to be given a reduced portion just because we used a voucher.
