Let it be said that I am disgusted to have heard about the level of disrespect towards someone I care deeply for. It's simply appalling because it is NEVER justifiable to behave in such a way. If I could give 0 stars I would! ?

Such an excellent al fresco experience and a great ending to the bank holiday. Excellent atmosphere, brilliant service and five star food. Kim and I cannot wait until our next visit ???

The pricing is punchy, but the quality coming out of the kitchen just about merits the price tag. We ordered most of the dishes on the menu between our table, and the only duff dish was the "jerk patty" (essentially a giant empanada, which could definitely use a salsa or something to lubricate all the mince and pastry). Desserts and starters (or 'small plates' if you're ordering mezze style) were the highlights, the mains were largely just well executed without being particularly special - although the burger was a honorable exception, very good. The service was... incongruous with the price tag. Not awful, just not what you'd expect if you're dropping £60 a head before alcohol. You expect the staff to know the menu backwards, not miss any orders (one of our sides never turned up), to check back on each course promptly rather than when some people are most of the way through their dishes, to spot when glasses are empty and try to sell you more drinks... never mind. Getting staff is hard, even at these prices, and the waitress was largely friendly even if she could use a bit more training. Overall, would go again, although booking a long way in advance is a bit of a lottery given its outdoors, and the price tag means it's not somewhere you're going to stop for an impromptu meal unless you're seriously flush.

We have just had a lovely evening with our family (including 4 children) in the beautiful surroundings of 'The Yard' - the kitchen garden is looking great. The food was delicious, the service was first class and the wine was extremely enjoyable. A thoroughly relaxing place to spend a summer evening.

Enjoyed our first visit to the Yard Castor, which is the garden restaurant behind their main Chubby Castor restaurant. We had lunch - ordered bbq octopus, butternut squash and chickpea pie for our starters, and cod cassoulet and a ribeye steak for our mains. Biscotti cheesecake and chocolate mouse was a nice finish. I liked that they don’t put too much sugar in the deserts - it was well balanced, they use fresh natural vanilla beans for an unsweetened whipped cream etc.Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The service was great! Did not catch our server’s name - a guy with tattoos greeted us upon arrival, told us about the menu, and was very attentive during the whole lunch. It was a test visit, so we’ll definitely return back for a full tasting dinner at the main Chubby Castor restaurant.Parking: Parking is located near the garden. Lots of free space near the restaurant as well.

Most expensive disappointment I've ever made, save time by buying a grim takeaway, and flush a couple of hundred quid down the loo.

2 out of 5. We went with friends and found the service was truly awful, arrived got given menus, sat for ages before order was taken, our waitress was very surly, brought nibbles, but did not ask if we wanted drinks. Watched as she chatted to people she knew, then, because we called her over we ordered the drinks. Later on when asked about the fish the young waiter had no idea how it was cooked or served. After waiting for a very long time 1st course arrived. We gave up ordering anything else, but when saying there would be no tip, our waitress said, this is The Yard and service is more relaxed. Since we live in the village this is not our first experience of bad service at the Yard or Chubby’s we find,it inexcusable. Would love to have a place to eat and come back to, this is not it.

It was a milestone birthday lunch with three adults and three kids all under the age of four. Sara's service was excellent from the start of our dining experience. Unfortunately they didn't have anything on their menu for kids but the chef was kind enough to whip up a delicious chicken meal for the kids.Kids were hungry and impatient, Sara suggested we walk around the garden and show the kids the vegetables growing in the small allotment in the Yard. The outdoor toilets were super clean! Our food was top notch, good wine selection to choose from, we enjoyed our bottle. The birthday cupcake was lovely. Thanks to Sara and the tram, we look forward to dining at the Yard again.
