Very popular tea room, six of us had tea and cakes here Saturday afternoon. It was a bit busy but still nice food, service and eccentric plates and cutlery to add to the vintage vibe.

I called in here earlier today for a spot of late lunch and a decent pot of tea. It didn’t disappoint! Wonderful decor, love the crockery, a tasty bite to eat and really friendly owners. No doubt that I’ll be back.

I'm not a local to St Neots coming in from Hertfordshire as I had heard good things about Betty's and we do love an afternoon tea. To be honest it was disappointing!! We were a party which included 3 Vegetarian one with dietary requirements all of which were communicated prior to our visit. Our expectations were fairly high a cosy wintry ladies afternoon. Without a doubt Betty's is a lovely two storey tea room that definitely nailed the vintage vibe very sweetly decorated for Christmas. The first warning should have been the large patio heater in small the ground floor sitting area. We were directed upstairs to the larger room. It was chilly!! We asked if there was heating and whether the open fire could be lit. Told the heating was on. One rad in a very large room set at 2... we asked to move tbled to be closer to the radiator, that wasnt done. it took 15min to be served our first pot of tea, we were given a choice of two medium or one large pot and opted for the two medium. We received a large pot with cosy and ice cold China teacups which sadly zapped all of the heat from the tepid tea! Ask for another pot which was delivered several minutes later and a medium pot!! We requested another pot! We also asked for alternative dairy milk and were told they don't do milk alternatives!! 35 mins after we sat down we asked about our food. A few mins later the manager paid us a visit to confirm our order 45 mins after we sat down we were told it was just being made. 50 mins after we sat down we got our food! On the plus side the staff were very pleasant and the food was almost perfect. Clearly Separated into Vegetarian and non vegetarian plates. The sandwiches, the equivalent of one per person but three different options quartered we generously filled and delicious. Egg mayo easily the nicest one I've had in memory. Another reviewer said the scones were great! And so they were gently warm and perfectly pulled apart. No butter which was sad for the member of the party who doesn't enjoy jam and cream but loves a warm buttered scone. Finishing with the choice of four different nice sized cakes slices which were slightly on the stodgy side but delicious none the less a strong 4.5 stars for the food.Sadly it did seem that despite pre booking and advising staff about different dietary requirements it felt like they weren't expecting our party. The bottle of presseco we pre ordered never arrived. We over the course of the couple of hours we spent in Betty's ordered several pots of tea and the staff were extremely accomodating in bringing back pots its a shame that most of them were sent back because they were tepid and it was so chilly in the room. It's a shame it may have been a different experience in the summer. Overall the attention to detail ie not knowing there were three vegetarian despite pre ordering. No bubbly despite pre ordering. You're a tea room pre warm the tea pots and crockery in the winter! The Cold crockery and tepid tea and a 50 min wait to eat despite pre ordering. Left us disappointed and unlikely to return.4.8 star food and 3.5 stars overall.

Reasonablly priced breakfast and fairly well cooked but the tablecloths were stained, cobwebs and dead flies above our head. Dusty dirty corner on the floor. Our coffee cups were stained and the salt shaker was filthy.Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible via front door.

£4.50 for buttered scone seems high to me.(2.50 for coffee fine). Asked for bill. Card machine brought to me and told total. Asked for till bill. Was told might not be possible. Was given bill with total sum only. Queried price (not welcome) and was told scone/coffee was priced as a ‘cream tea’. (Scones, a common purchase in a tea room, not priced on menu.)

I went for a brew and found the menu some welsh rabbit which was cooked well, the tea came in a pot and proper tea cups. Makes a change from mugs. There was a few customers and will pop in again, when in the area.
