This was only the second time we’ve visited as we don’t live too near, but this family pub is definitely worth travelling to. The pub itself has had a fairly recent change of ownership apparently and they’ve re-decorated throughout. It has a traditional English pub feel but with a modern and quirky edge; really comfortable and inviting, with a huge parking area and extensive outdoor seating areas for the summer. The owners are amazing; really friendly and chatty and can’t do enough to make sure you’re happy. We last visited on a Sunday and the carvery was delicious, lots of choice and all cooked really well. There also appeared to be a good array of beers and wine and at decent prices. We will definitely be visiting again soon and highly recommend it!!

Sunday carvery... absolutely georgeous. fantastic selection of three meats and a sausage plus the biggest home made yorkshire puddings i have ever seen and then cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, six more vegetables and real meat juice gravy. A real home made roast dinner like your nan used to make that makes you feel warm inside and satisfied.... Not only that but apple crumble and custard WOW .

Very welcoming as soon as we arrived. Great food, served promptly and worth the money. They have also made a real effort in decorating for Halloween, looks awesome. We are local and will certainly be going back.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Booked today for Sunday lunch for 4 adults as had heard the pub was under new management and so had high hopes. How wrong we were. When we arrived we were offered drinks and asked to pay in advance for the carvery which we did and was given a buzzer to let us know when the carvery would be ready for us. We were then shown to our table. 2 people was waiting to be served and asked to go up by the staff. The pub was not busy only 3 tables in the restaurant and 1 in the main bar. We then sat there for another 25 mins waiting while the lady behind the counter kept checking the food (which had been covered up with foil) and kept going into the kitchen area, where I could see someone standing there eating. No one checked on us or came to see if we needed anything. Eventually one of the staff walked past and looked at us and then disappeared into the kitchen. Then our buzzer went off. We gave the lady our receipt and she looked very unhappy as they had only charged us for 4 children’s carvery’s (£11.95 expensive for a child’s meal). She was very rude and aggressive then refused to serve us and also disappeared into the kitchen. We were getting really fed up by this time. The bar staff then explained that we needed to pay the correct amount, ( which was their mistake not ours) which we offered to after we had been served as we had been waiting for over 40 mins at this point. She then walked away as well. Absolutely joke!!!!! After another 5 mins, at this point we decided to leave and have a refund. The staff were shouting at each other in the kitchen and arguing as to who’s fault it was and after seeing what was on offer food wise, it didn’t look very appetising we walked out. They only had beef or gammon pre sliced and looking a bit dried up. Frozen Yorkshire puddings or larger burnt ones. The potato’s looked frozen, not fresh roasties. The veg I didn’t get to look at. While waiting to get a refund for the food ( yes they charged for the drinks), I asked who was in charge and if the owners were about. I was told they were in the back but not available. No apology, no customer service, absolutely disgraceful. When I said I’d never return all I got was a sarcastic look and smirk from the bar staff. Disgusting behaviour. NO FOOD, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE and NO APOLOGY.
