The place is falling apart.Stains in the bed, no pillow case, hole in celing, 1 window with no curtains onto high street, dirty room not cleaded dust everywhere dried paint in several places on the carpet, windows rotten paint come off and wood rotten away, no tea coffee.Place has been bought buy and Egiptian muslim i presum as the bar has been shut, but this is England and people expect a bar in a hotel to sit and relax and even if only having a coffee or a drink or 2 before bed,.The few staff that are there are great but they need many more to run efficiently, but i feel he is holding out to turn the place into a hostel for refugees to cash in, he should be refussed the licence due to neglect thats happing now which will only get worse

Very pleased with my stay, very clean and comfortable room, 301, quirky 16th century building and lovely staff.

Where do I start. Apart from trying to get to the fourth floor to a family room with 2 children pushchair 3 holdalls and numerous bags for baby with no lift. In for a 3 night stay. TV didn't work for lack of remote when asked was told some had been stolen. Leak from sink, bath panel held on with sellotape. Kettle on floor as lead doesn't reach far enough. Dirt on mirror stains on bedside tables. My personnel favourite was 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel. Was told deliveries were not sent back complete. The new owner has stopped food being served, closed bar and doors shut at 10pm. The only saving grace at this establishment is the manager Mario. He is very helpful and kind. He would be a great lose as he is the person that keeps the hotel going. He needs a bloody medal.

Staff were great, room supposed to be deluxe, far from it !! Stain on curtains, cobwebs on curtain track wallpaper peeling, room furniture that a second hand shop would throw out, black mould around bottom of shower, no hot food available,. . On the plus side bed and linen clean, continental breakfast was more than ample,Such shame ! So much potential for a 400 year old building, not for people with mobility issues,

Great hotel, would happily stay again. The staff were so lovely and helpful, rooms were clean and well furnished. Located right in the town centre everything was easily within walking distance, highly recommend.

Rooms outdated, duty manager I’m guessing who worked in the evening accused us of smoking in the room after fire alarm went off, explained later that it was a guests shower, 0 apology, poor customer service.avoid at all costs

Wonderful place! We had a afternoon tea booking for 15 people. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Thank you so much. We will be back again!

We had the misfortune to stay at the The Rose and Crown in Wisbech for a short break in September. We were let down on another booking and as there was nowhere else available we ended up grabbing this place last minute to use as a base. Really wish we had read the reviews in more depth. The room itself was tatty and run down, but worse still it was dirty, dusty and smelt stale. When we first arrived the hand basin was blocked with someone else's stagnate washing water, informed staff who apologised and said will get maintenance to sort out, when we returned late evening the blockage was cleared but there were remnants of black stubble left in the basin. Door handles, shower head and kettle were covered in sticky black grime and the toilet bowl was stained brown where it hadn't been cleaned for years. The bed itself did at least have clean covers, however the scatter cushions and throw smelt of stale nicotine and hair grease. We were also unable to sleep properly due to a noisy group of young men riding around the market place on bikes, this went on into the small hours of the night. The room only had one small attic style window which we had to keep open due to a mini hot spell at beginning of month, asked for a fan and was told they didn't have one, yet when we were leaving the next day we spotted a number of fans just sat there in an unused conference type room. This has honestly got to be the worst place we have ever stayed in. Obviously I can't vouch for the other rooms but if your given key 313 to the standard double then run the other way, it's a shocker and they had the cheek to charge nearly £80 per night. This historic building is an old Grade ll listed coaching Inn with all it's original quirky features, it's such a pity because in the right hands this fantastic property could be great again. It currently has the misfortune to be under the management of a hotel chain called OYO, researchthem online and read trustpilot reviews on this company. I personally will never go near another hotel that is remotely associated with this dubious company OYO. A truly awful experience.
