Came here after seeing great reviews and wasn't disappointed. We had top class service with high class food and as it was the last night of the £10 off offer an absolute bargain 3 course meal .We will be hoping back at full price

This was an amazing culinary experience .We were a family group of 5 adults having the 3 course lunch menu which turned out to be the first day of the new menu..Every course was amazing combining outstanding presentation with fabulous flavours.We have paid 2 or 3 times more at other highly rated restaurants and have not enjoyed the menu so much.It really was a gastronomic experience of the highest order.We will be returning very shortly for another special treat.Hopefully 1539 will be able to keep the high standards and if they do news will soon spread.Well done to the team it was magnificent.???

Visited here for Sunday Lunch with my Son and his girlfriend as it's my favourite restaurant in Chester. Had never been for Sunday lunch here before, but the 3 course set lunch was cooked to perfection (the beef was superb) and the service was to the usual high standard.

Went with the family , 7 adults and a two year old , we asked for the children,s menu we ordered our food my grandsons meal came out the same as the adults had ordered ! chicken breast on the bone , it was as if they couldn't be bothered to cook a child's meal , the roasters were rock hard , the veg was cold , we've been going here for years don't know what's happened , what i do know is i will not go back such a shame .

This was my Dad and my second visit, one last week and then yesterday. I can honestly say that from the moment we were greeted the ambiance, decor, friendliness and staff were faultless! Sarah our server was fabulous!! ? The food was truly stunning! It was one of the nicest meals I've had in a long time and Dad and I. Eat out every week! Really looking forward to going back! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ???

Booked a table four months ago and turned up only to discover that our table had been gazumped by a private party.Host then claimed that they’d tried “many, many” times to contact me but I’d received no calls, nor voicemails, no emails.Had been looking forward to this meal and had been turned away. Then received an official “your booking has been cancelled” email which felt like a real punch in the gut.Really disappointed to be treated this way.Not what I expected from a venue of this reputation.Getting one star because I can’t leave a no-star review.

We were served by a lovely and very accommodating waiter, the food and drinks were exceptional as always. The staff make sure that you get a premium experience and we are always very looked after here. The food is always exquisite no matter what you choose! Only comment is please bring back the raspberry beret cocktails!

Went there for lunch and it was as good as ever, especially with the clear and concisely worded special offer. Also the service was excellent, which is important to me as I have very stressful business to run for the rest of the day !

Having 6 friends come over from Yorkshire fir the weekend thought we would try 1539. Reason. Advertised half price food in January Lesson no 1. Read the very small print. Small print says to a maximum of £10. Very small print says only on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Slightly misleading but I am sure feel morally sound that they have covered all legal aspects of the offer. Lesson No2. Always check your bill. We received our bill for a table of 8 for £512. Well it’s a lot but we did have the food and knew it was not cheap. On further inspection all meals had been entered twice. So we got a second bill. We queried this again as all starters had been entered twice. Finally re I ever the correct bill a whopping £160 below the original bill. Now that’s a big tip. Now to the food. We won’t be going back. We had a number of meals but every one had the same yellow curryish sauce. This sauce was with chicken,sea bass and cauliflower. It was nice but lazy chefs don’t get far. Service. Stern bordering rude. We all felt that we were an inconvenience.

My mum celebrated her 80th with Sunday lunch for 20 people. I was really bowled over by the service we got. The maitre d' (whose name I didn't get, sorry) was just brilliant, very patient, very understanding, as were all the other staff especially our main waitress. The food was excellent, the restaurant looked beautiful. Thank you so much for such a special day. It's such a great setting.

Lovely setting overlooking the race course. PLenty of staff, enquired about the ingredients of the cocktails, first server gave wrong info. Food presented beautifully, the fillet steak was delicious. Then the staff seemed to leave us be, didn't come and ask if we wanted more drinks or desserts? Service great to start and just seemed to tail off slightly at the end .. but a very nice meal and restaurant
