Plentiful afternoon tea in elegant surroundings. Great views!Asked as soon as we arrived if we'd like still or sparkling water (money spinner). Opted for Tap water.Lovely sandwiches and cakes. The scones were disappointing, overcooked and too hard-replaced on asking with fresh.£43 for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.Pleasant, efficient staff.

The restaurant is on the 5th floor of the building over looking Chester race course. Amazing service and food. Very friendly and professional staff. Good price and superb

We chose this restaurant for our 40th wedding anniversary. Have to say we were very disappointed. The French onion soup was nice as a starter. But the fish pie I had for a main was dreadful. Had way better in pubs. Very little fish, loads of mash. The steak my husband asked for medium rare and the French waiter talked him out of it, it came over done. We know our meat as we had a cattle farm in Australia for decades. Very expensive and the wines suggested also ordinary but expensive. Very disappointed. Dessert also ordinary, worst meal of our six week trip so far and it had to be on our anniversary.

Lovely place for a casual dinner especially on a fine summer's evening. Food was good without being excellent and the service excellent

I booked an after tea for my Mum's special birthday and we were disappointed. Despite having confirmed the numbers post booking the table was laid for incorrect number. The service was slow with the tea being brought out well before the food, and some of the sandwiches were dry. The staff did not check on us in order to provide refills of the drinks. As I was trying to pay the bill discreetly I did not notice and it was not pointed out to me by the staff that there was a discretionary service charge £22.50 (10%). I did not feel that the service warranted that. So watch out for that.

Amazing staff, really well done to the young server Imogen who had nothing but abuse from a table next to us. They were absolutely vile the whole way through her service, demeaning and intimidating but she handled it so eloquently. Really well done !xx

We enjoyed the chicken liver parfait and smoked haddock fish cakes for starters and the duck confit for main course. The service was excellent and the location overlooking the racecourse likewise.

We booked afternoon tea for five of us for our mothers birthday. We were unfortunately very disappointed in what service and food we received. When we arrived no one asked to take our jackets to put in the cloakroom. The waiter asked if we wanted tea or coffee with our food, but he never went through what types of tea we can choose from. The service itself was quite slow and very impersonal. When the food came he put the food down without giving an explanation of what it all was. We had to ask him to come back and explain what sandwiches and cakes were. The waiter however said he didn’t know what was what and couldn’t give us a breakdown of what we had. So we had to work it out for ourselves. The food itself was quite disappointing considering we were in the Abode. Some of the sandwiches were lacking filling. The restaurant and view though is very beautiful. Definitely lunch with a view. It has so much potential to become an amazing afternoon tea location.

Really good afternoon tea. Plenty to eat. Lovely bonuses like a croque monsieur, sausages, and a wide selection of cakes. Plus we got a table with a view. Service was polite but they didn’t interrupt you- a good balance. I will be going back.
