Booked in advance, arrived early, table not quite ready which was fine, when sat at table given Sunday menu, chose what we wanted only then told that beef which is on 4 of 6 mains isn't availed for about an hour! Should have been told this when we arrived because then we could've decided if we were willing to wait, at thatching we had ordered and paid for a bottle of wine so we had no choice! Ordered a small starter to keep us going, which I don't think we should've had to pay for fir, food was fine when it came, waitress tried really hard to appease us, but won't go again!

Lovely pub stopped off for a teatime meal, service was great from stepping through the door. Lovely atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. Food was very nice, good potions and very tasty, we had steak pie with veg and mash. Would definitely recommend ☺️ parking available just enter car reg when you get inside

Had food off the set menu with my mum. Lovely atmosphere, staff were friendly and accommodating, would recommend anyone driving through looking for a great bite to eat. Dog friendly as well but tables positioned well enough that even with our dog and two others with different people there you couldn’t even tell! Will be coming back here again!

I love coming here to eat, the ambience is perfect and the food is always delicious. We came on Mother’s Day this time and it was perfect for the occasion. It’s always so cosy here and I thought the rose given out to the mums was a lovely touch also. Staff weee friendly, polite and attentive. Thankyou, looking forward to our next visit.

Went here for lunch and ordered from the £18.75 for 2 courses lunchtime menu. Food ordered was fish and chips (which was a huge fish) and a vegan course roasted celeriac steak. Food was hot and delicious and I can honestly say to all the veggies or vegans the celeriac was divine. We both had apple and raspberry crumble for dessert which looked so lovely I completely forgot to take a photo of it before I'd eaten it. The pub itself was really lovely and the menu choice was great. Will visit again ?

Came looking for a simple pub lunch and discovered an incredible new favourite. This is what to look for in a gastropub. The food was excellent (try the king prawn sandwich), the atmosphere was pleasant and calm (music playing in the background, but so softly you'd have to listen for the lyrics), and staff the right mix of friendly and efficient.Perfect end to our Lyme Park visit, and definitely recommending!Parking: Free parking for pub guests, put in your registration at the host desk

Got sat down and was immediately asked what we wanted to drink before we had even had a chance to look at the menu, we asked for a couple of minutes and then 20mins went past and no one came so I went to the bar to order. Our food was taken verbally at the table after I had ordered the drinks and even though we only ordered 2 mains and a side he forgot the side so when the mains came I had to mention it.I ordered the sole from the specials and it was swimming in grease and what fish was actually present (as it was 90% bone) tasted awful. I’ve both lived abroad and travelled extensively so I know what a sole dish should be like but when I asked to return it the waiter replied that the “chef” said it wasn’t greasy at all. Not good customer service and also not correct. When my sausage and mash arrived (surely this should be ok I thought) with the pardon peppers that never came in the first place, the sausages were aneamic and was all very bland. For a local pub I was very very disappointed and won’t be coming back or recommending it to anyone after that experience which is a real shame.
