Had a lovely time here on Mother’s Day, everything was perfect! Neil and his team were amazing and we will definitely be returning again!!! Thank you everyone!

Possibly the worst meal, atmosphere and menu I’ve come across. The ‘manager’ Neil, had a voice like a fog horn and could be heard barking orders to staff. Table near us walked out because, in a dog friendly pub the manager told them they couldn’t have dogs and continued to be rude and condescending to them. Not sure how this chap is a ‘manager’.Food was incredibly overpriced for what was served and overall a real disappointment. I was invited with my wife by a friend who couldn’t apologise enough for the poor experience and I think, unless this place changes hands I’ll not visit again.Response: I have to admit, I haven’t a clue what you mean. A reply like yours to a negative review is bizarre, are you ok Neil?

Thank you Neil for another fabulous night at The Goshawk. Your Mothers’ day menu was yummy (especially the starters) and unlike so many pubs these days offered excellent food at a good price. Lovely atmosphere, helpful staff (Tom and Danny) and a roaring fire. The best pub for miles and miles.

Booked a table for mother's day, at no point during the booking system was it made clear that there was a set menu on this day. When we arrived we were made to feel uncomfortable as we had a dog and we were told we couldnt sit in the area we were with the dog, when asking the manager if there was somewhere else to sit he was in no way helpful nor did he act like he wanted to be helpful. We then found out that it was a set menu and we would be forced to order two meals for £26 we explained this was never shared with us when booking. The manager again was in no way helpful forcing us to leave. He was rude and extremely loud, to the point where I'm pretty sure half the pub new what the issue was. Blaming everything on us and not taking any responsibility or showing any empathy due to it obviously being mother's day. He kept refering to an email that was sent, less than a week before the booking. When asking if he thought that would be enough time to cancel the booking and get a table elsewhere he scoffed and went 'yeah'. Extremely disappointed with our experience and will not be returning. From reading all the responses to other one star reviews from previous customers it is clear the owner of this pub is a narcissistic bully who has no idea what the term 'customer service' actually means.

LASER REVERSAL

Hi NeilI’d like to congratulate you on having such appalling customer manners AND a very loud voice that booms across the dining area, letting everyone know how important you must think you are, how right you think you are, what a bully you think you are and how in charge you think you are!!!Yes I am being RUDE!!! As you were to me and my family today. There was NO excuse for your manner today, your customers were NOT in the wrong… YOU were!!!!. According to your lovely staff, I hear this is quite a well known failing of yours. No doubt you will make excuses, to yet again, blame the customer. But, you were personally responsible for ruining a day for a whole family because you LIED and had to try to back it up with….. ‘blaming the customer’ ‘excuses’.This could have easily been resolved, but you had a….’I WILL BLAME YOU FOR EVERYTHING’ attitude.Yes we had children, yes we needed a high chair, yes we had a dog (so what)…… but the rudeness we got from you at this point (on our arrival), laid the way for you to continue your rudeness for the next 20minutes and anyone with in 30 feet of you could hear it!! (Thanks for that). No matter what YOU said we should have known at the time of booking (which was not true anyway), we explained, very politely, why that wasn’t the case in our situation and how our complex booking had unfolded (which included several ‘mess up the booking’ emails from you and numerous follow up emails from you). But you were resolute on blocking your ears to these facts and the evidence shown to you. This was the point in which YOU should have apologised. YOU should have accepted that your full proof email system had failed and the situation was down to that, NOT the innocent customer!!! YOU, ruined my MOTHERING SUNDAY!!!BECAUSE YOU DID NOT ATTEMPT TO COMPROMISE, nor make any effort at all, to correct the situation, which could have been easily done, it was US (not you!) that demanded our deposit back and asked you to put it in writing (because you were not trusted at this point anymore) and it was US that decide to leave.Your lovely staff were so sorry, for how you had spoken to us. Take a lesson from them and learn some customer manners. YOU are clearly in the wrong employment!!Yours very sincerelyR, H, B, T, R, A, J & JMmm…. this is not Tabatha! But another member of the party whose day you ruined and is reflected in the tone of this review. You have just confirmed your ignorance shines.

We went to the Goshawk with two friends who hadn't been before. They loved the choice of food and the option of two or three courses at special prices. The food didn't disappoint and the service was warm and welcoming. A great place for lunch.

Excellent service, always a warm welcome, food and drink first class never had to complain. Neil and his staff always try to accommodate us if we request a certain table.

Excellent Sunday Roast and love the individual small carafes used to serve your glass of wine. The Syrup Sponge Pudding for dessert was one of the best I have tasted.Lovely food & wine with excellent service at a reasonable price.

Nice fixed price 2/3 course meal. Beer good, manager knowledgeable and offered a taste of a plum pudding winter ale. It wasn't the sought of beer we normally go for, but an experience which we accepted.
