Paid our first visit under the new management and we were delighted that both our meals and service were first class.

Really reccomend trying out this pub! Food was amazing, and Mike was so friendly and helpful. A lovely pub to stop in at after the delamere walk, will return again.

Came here with 10 of my friends. We pre-booked. The standard of service was second to none. The quality of the food was amazing. Everything is cooked from fresh. We had three courses of various items and couldn’t fault any. I personally had the skewers which was a meal in itself! Followed by the homemade steak and ale pie and chocolate tart. We finish with liquor coffees which were perfect. Good to see the sell cask ale which I always think is a sign of a good pub. Well worth a visit. Next time we will bring the dogs so they can sample the dog menu!!!

New year at the travellers. Was a great night. Great food and service. Had dinner here a couple of weeks ago too. Food was excellent. Give this couple a try they are great hosts. The wine and beer is flowing and have everything you want. Come and support them don’t be put off by the previous owners.

A lovely married couple own the pub, I wanted to come here for a while but it’s always booked up every year, luckily I got a booking this year. The starters was amazing and dinner was delicious too. I wanted dessert but I was too full up in the end. The price range was brilliant as the food was. 100% coming back next year as I always come up to Fordham for Boxing Day.

Highly recommended, great food & service. We used to visited some years ago but the management changed and we went elsewhere. We heard that new people had taken over and it was worth a visit. Please go, we were very impressed with the food, beautifully prepared and presented and very well priced for the high quality. I had the the three sausages with mash, delicious and my partner had the fish pie, home made and excellent too. Cask ales also now available that were very good too. We wish the new owners all the very best and we will be regulars.

Our 1st visit since the new owners took over and we weren’t disappointed. It’s early days but the restaurant already looks 100% better. I’m sure by the time they’re finished it will be fabulous. The food was great as was the service, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try.

Fantastic lunch with family today. A warm welcome on arrival and a good choice of foods on the menu. I can honestly say the fish pie was one of the best I've had and a good sized portion. My family had fish and chips and were impressed with the crispy batter on the fish. The service was good, not too slow, and we didn't feel rushed out afterwards. Great value for money and we will be back for lunch again. Well done to the new team!

We were staying at Lady Heyes caravan site with friends and decided to go to the Travellers Rest for a meal on our 2nd evening. It's within walking distance, it took us about 15 minutes. There's a pavement all the way there, but part way along you do have to cross the road as the pavement on that side finishes. The pub has only recently been taken over by new owners and from what we experienced, it should become very successful, they deserve it. We had a warm welcome from the landlady and were told to sit where we liked. She told us that one of the staff had been sent home earlier that day due to being unwell, so she was on her own. Not a problem, it's better to explain things like that beforehand, then people know that there could be a delay. We had no complaints at all though. In our case, we didn't really have to wait for our food, and in any case, I'd rather have a pause between courses than having it served straight after finishing one course. The food was fantastic, all 4 of us enjoyed it. Only 1 of us had a starter, the chicken skewers. Beware, there are 2 skewers with a lot of chicken, almost a meal in itself! We all had a taste, and it was lovely. For mains 2 of us had scampi & chips and the other 2 fish & chips. Both have a choice of small or large portions. We chose small fish & chips after asking how big the big fish would be; apparently very big! When it came, it was still quite a good sized fish, good job we didn't get the big fish! The batter was really nice, not oily or soggy, but very light and the fish was delicious. The scampi was a big portion for both people, and there was more than enough, almost too much really. The chips were the bigger chunky variety, again, really nice. The fish came with mushy peas and tartare sauce, the scampi with peas and tartare sauce. After that only 2 of us could (just about) manage a dessert; sticky toffee pudding and Belgian waffles. These were both really lovely, although we had trouble finishing it. All in all, a really fantastic meal, served by the very friendly landlady. Next time we're staying at Lady Heyes we'll defnitely visit again, thank you.

This pub has very recently been taken over by new people. I went today for lunch with a friend and had the ' festive feast' ciabatta. It was very good - bursting with filling of turkey ( very thick tasty slices), brie and Cranberry. Side of thin cut crispy fries. Maybe the ciabatta itself could have been a bit more crispy but it was still delicious. We were the only ones in there today which was a shame as I'd like to see the place do well. Excellent service from the lovely chef Elektra who couldn't have done more for us. I will certainly be going back.

Had lunch here for the first time with the new management. It’s had a rocky time lately but from our experience today the future should be rosy. It looks bright on entry, there will soon be lovely fires but today they were waiting for the Chimney Sweep. We both had ‘festive Ciabatta’ to get into the spirit of Christmas. One of us (me!) had ‘mini sticky toffee pudding and coffee’, all excellent and reasonably priced. Service was very friendly with lots of chat about exciting plans for the future. But to make sure there IS a future, please go now, if it’s like today (with fires!) you won’t regret it.

Wow, just Wow. Had the best meal last night, hearty and whole in every way. It was also very relaxing. New management have certainly worked wonders here and I can highly recommend a visit. I’ve also visited just for drinks and it’s a nice calm vibe after hectic week in work. All dogs are welcome too she had a little bark but soon settled.

Visited this country pub with a couple of friends for a pre-Christmas catch up. Was truly blown away by the ease of booking, warm welcome on arrival and choice from the menu. I opted for traditional Xmas dinner, perfect. My friends had a vegetarian option and fish pie, both excellent. Meal was rounded off by indulgent desserts: orange chocolate torte and sorbet for me was a straight 10. All in all a very enjoyable visit, nice to see this old favourite of a pub, given a new lease of life with new decor. I’m a bit of a stickler for high standards of hospitality and these guys have cracked it. Strongly recommend.
