We sat outside in a pod by the canal. The heater wasn't working but the sun was out. It was a pleasant enough visit but the food could have been better. The prawn sandwich was delicious but spoilt by way too much 'butter.' I'd already eaten one sandwich when I took the photo. I like butter but this was ridiculous. The one I ate had even more butter than the other photo shows! Likewise the salad had no dressing other than a big glug of olive oil. Why? The chips were also a bit overcooked and greasy. Staff who served us were pleasant but not the best English speakers. Maybe we were just unlucky as I think it's normally better there. I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and another go.

Went to The Barn Owl for dinner with my two teenagers (who have hollow legs) for the first time this evening and had a really lovely meal. We had the Lasagne, a Cheeseburger and the Chicken and Sweetcorn BBQ pizza, along with some cheesy chips. My 16yo son refused a 2nd slice of my pizza as he was so full! We all really enjoyed the food.Of course the kids then had room for a pudding and had a Sundae and Sticky Toffee pudding, both very tasty.Service was excellent and the staff all made us feel very welcome.A half term treat but we will be back. Definitely recommend.

First time in the Bawn Owl and we were not disappointed. We had the menu for the Seniors and had two courses. Lovely food and reasonably priced. Very busy and lots of regulars which suggests it's a good place for a meal. Book early if you want a table by the window looking over the canal.

Really enjoyed our meal today.Excellent food & excellent value for money.Lovely helpful staff. Atmosphere was really nice. We sat at the window, really relaxing watching the birds & ducks. The staff gave Bruno our dog a sausage, he loved it!The only negative thing was the pastry on the mince beef pie was a little on the hard side. Wouldn't have mentioned it but, I would want to know if it was my business. Other than that, it was perfect.Toilets were lovely & clean. We had a lovely walk first in Spud Wood just 5 mins down the road.

Can't comment on the food as we only had a packet of crisps. It was clean bright and friendly. The staff were attentive and chatty, the beer was good. The food that passed or table looked good.In good weather it would be nice to sit out by the canal, so we'll head back again.

Our table in the conservatory had excellent views of the canal and countryside. The roast lunch was superb. Sophie and staff welcomed and looked after us. A really enjoyable experience .

Really enjoyed a little stop here by the canal for some afternoon tea. It was Christmas Eve, and there was a lot of Christmas Cheer, friends and family enjoying a nice outing on Xmas Eve. Great, warm atmosphere for this gal from the US to enjoy. The soup I had was delicious and experienced great service.

Not really a proper pub, lack of atmosphere. Food average to poor. My portion of fish small and very strong tasting. Not cod or haddock for sure.
