Lovely and attentive staff, the restaurant could do with some work around the mood and atmosphere but was a little disappointed at the food. Could tell there was effort and thought put into some dishes with presentation but lacking in taste and quite underwhelming for the price. Menu was limited and also strange choices for the seasonal items which did not fit at all. Won't be back in a hurry, but it's a work in progress!

I guess a problem living in a large city like Bristol, Leeds or Birmingham is getting spoilt for choice. The issue is made worse by the fact that the UK is losing dozens of pubs and hostelries on a weekly basis so that when you visit tourist areas outside of the city and the suburbs unless you're in the lakes you're never really presented with a gastronomic extravaganza. OK for many who just need a fuel stop but British cuisine is on the up and I'm afraid most pub grub simply doesn't cut the mustard nowadays due largely to the economic constraints they've been put under - people want cheap food so they prepare cheap food else they go under like the rest of the landlords who fail to please the masses. It's in this oddly quality-sparse, Michelin star-deficit, food-facile landscape that I found myself in this week when I stumbled across the Bistro during a "where can I eat well locally?" Internet search. Newly rosetted by the AA (simply put means they stand out in the local food scene) this is usually a sign of a team working hard to put themselves on the food map. Booked via an actual visit to the gift shop next door I dragged some family out to borrow their taste-buds for comparative purposes. Service was great (borderline obsequious but that'll smooth out with experience) and staff were knowledgeable about the food being served as well as the drinks behind the bar. Classic bistro-style food with an inventive kitchen (the mise-en-bouche open to the chefs whims as is classically the way) my starter was a perfectly executed scotch egg with an oozing yolk in a seductively moreish thai-style dressing (it could have had a few more notches up the scoville scale for my liking but I have to remember that not all punters are reaper growers like me). I chose the fish dish (check the price if you're not used to pescaterian menus - though it's odd that a price range isn't stipulated on the menu, I could easily imagine it catching some out if they're expected cod and chips prices) and my fellow dinners the wagu burger and beef pie. All three dishes stood out in some way with quality ingredients clearly shining through. Small stuff like using a commercial mayonnaise as a condiment when you're serving your wagu burger with a delicious piquant homemade salsa will be ironed out further down the road of success for this hardworking group of people but as of now there are few places that can hold a candle up to this quality in and around the Bude area - book now before they get noticed by Michelin so you can say you were there in the beginning.

We had only beer and coffee, came to early for Brewery tour March. So had a local beer(nice, tasty, bold, a bit bitter but very balanced with tonnes of sweet taste). Parking is there, but busy months will be struggle to park there. Nice enviroment. Playing area for kids so parents can chill a bit.

Came for a Sunday lunch carvery. 4 different meats available and a good selection of veg. I have cuts of the honey roast ham, topside beef and brisket. The brisket was particularly good, melted in the mouth with great flavour, topside beef was a bit chewy, wasn't that impressed but that could have just been my cut. The vegetables were great. Staff were friendly and that was a great buzz in the restaurant.

We had a great meal in October and so recommend several friends. Sadly they didn’t agree and weren’t impressed. We went for new year’s eve lunch. Mains were all roasts (not carvery). Veg was nice, chicken was nice but beef was minuscule and fatty. The Yorkshire puddings were hard and dry. More beef was given when requested but you shouldn’t need to ask. The manager is excellent but he was let down by the food. The two courses were £35 so not cheap considering it wasn’t as good as the carvery. A glass of Prosecco was included but it was warm. I ordered a glass of wine which never arrived. So all in all it was very disappointing. I hope they get back to the standard we had in October. I won’t be recommending it for a while as we weren’t impressed nor were several people who’ve been recently that we recommended.

This is a beautiful spot near Tintagel. Inside the decor is gorgeous, low lighting , with a lovely ambiance . We had three courses and each course was absolutely delicious, the thought behind these dishes was evident and cooked and plated to perfection. The owner Simon is fantastic , nothing is too much trouble. Personally this restaurant is Mitchelin Star level! Highly recommend a visit as you won’t be disappointed

Visited for lunch this week which was delicious. Service was knowledgeable and friendly. Had hoped to visit again for dinner but storm scuppered our plans. Definitely on the list to visit next time.

I live in North Cornwall where gastronomic excellence is competed for at the highest level. Lunch today at Tintagel Brewery was the best meal that I have eaten locally this year. Subtle and balanced flavours and quality of content; hake from this morning’s catch cooked to perfection. Service, by Simon, impeccable - welcoming, attentive, informative and involved. Matched by George’s cooking and presentation which could not be faulted. Thank you both and your staff. Congratulations! We wish you well in your venture. This bodes well for an exciting future. We will be back! P.

Fantastic food in a lovely atmosphere. The staff were excellent and the price very reasonable. The Hake was perfect! We’ll definitely be back.
