What a disappointment. No children's starters, no cheese or soup starters, several main course items not available. We weren't told any of this before ordering, would have been helpful to be told when given menus so we didn't waste time deciding on food choices that weren't available. Asked for wine... they didn't have any, sold out. What we did have was ok, but a touch on the pricey side. Whilst I couldn't complain about what we got, the pub lacked good customer service, when I went to pay the bill the waitress was too busy washing dishes in the kitchen to see so had to go into the bar area to pay. Not sure when they sold out of everything as we were there at 6pm on a Saturday evening and at the time of arrival the only people in the restaurant.

This place used to be known for excellent food. Since it’s changed hands it’s really gone down hill.Frozen chips, used to be “proper chips”. Lasagna looked awful coming out and and tasted how it looked and was sent back.A battered chicken burger that was lacking in any taste. The staff seemed to be largely new and helpful, but got the feeling that it was lacking leadership or management (owner was on a day off, which is absolutely understandable).I’m guessing that it’s not a trainer chef in the kitchen.Unfortunately the once high quality produce has gone. That along with what are pretty high prices for what you’re getting just doesn’t work. Maybe ok while summer and holiday makers use the place, but for those who used to go because they knew it was always a good feed won’t be going back again when they see what the current standard is, is my opinion. However; the beer was excellent and the staff appeared to be genuinely trying their best.Hopefully it will get back to what it was just a short while ago.

Went with my wife and 3 grandkids Food fantastic great service good portion and a reasonable price only thing the price of the drink was pretty expencive £14.80 for 1 pint and 4 bottles of diet coke , never saw any drinks price in the menu apart from that id recomendKid-friendliness: Great kids meals big portion , chocolate fudge cake from the main menu was massive one between the 3 kids would have been plenty , overkill in fact no need for that amount ,Parking: Plenty room

My husband and I ordered a turkey roast dinner. The service was great and our dinners arrived quickly. The food was delicious, hot and plenty of it. The gravy was sensational, can’t recommend enough.

Having some time to kill in Abbey Town, I was lured in by the sign outside which promised "Real Ale". However when I asked what real ales were available, the landlord didn't even seem to know what a real ale even was. Instead he offered me a pint of keg John Smiths ?. As I was only there for a quiet afternoon pint, I can't comment on the food. But after gulping down a very mediocre pint of Strongbow, I left feeling more than a little dissatisfied. If it were not for the false advertising I would have just gone somewhere else which did sell real ale. Service was good. Atmosphere was lacking, and If you are looking for good quality well kept beer, then I am afraid I can't recommend the Wheatsheaf. Hopefully the food makes up for it.

First time since takeover, not disappointed. Steak night which was absolutely delicious followed by two beautiful deserts. The staff were very attentive, well worth a visit.

Fantastic meal at the Wheatsheaf Inn. I contacted the pub on short notice for a table of 10 adults and they were very helpful and got us a table. The food was great, portion sizes were large and food was tasty. The drink choice was also fantastic. However, the highlight of the pub is definitely the staff. All staff members were very hospitable and provided great service. Thanks for a great experience
