We decided to try the White Mare for a bit of a change after it recently started serving food. We were not disappointed the food was first class. Started with prawn cocktail as they were out of Thai fish cakes and was not disappointed with my choice. For mains we had Thai green curry with half rice and half chips and our other main was salmon fillet with chips and veg. Both came piping hot and clearly just prepared. Mains were very enjoyable and filling, so much so couldn't manage the desert!!Service was first class the waiter was pleasant and accommodating and everyone else was very attentive and anything we asked was no trouble to them. All in all a lovely night and will definitely be back .Food & drinks: Wide selection of starters and mains including vegetarian options. Thai green curry exceptionally tasty and not too spicy.

Sunday Luncheon, food was lovely and tasty, staff were friendly Definitely will be popping back in to try more meals.
Booked a table for a meal. Waited an hour for our meals to arrive - the restaurant was not busy and when they did arrive not only was the order wrong but my granddaughters burger was not cooked - raw in the middle - my Mediterranean tart was cold in the middle. We had to leave our meals as my granddaughter felt physically sick biting into a raw burger. Was the only place to eat in the village but would not eat there e er again. Consequences of eating food not cooked properly are unthinkable.- to your reply - yes at 6:30 I was told we would have to book and you did not have availability until 7:30 which we took and came back at that time. I was NOT told that our order would then take an hour to be served. Apart from the time issue it does not deter from the fact the burger was not cooked properly leading to my granddaughter being unwell.

The White Mare is a peaceful, relaxing lovely place. The dining room and the bar staff were attentive, but not to invasive. The menu was great and the food was enjoyable, all the right reasons for a visit.

Called in here at 12pm before a house viewing. Lady managing bar was very friendly.Great to see gluten free sandwiches and toasties on the menu, so nice to see pubs starting to cater for those with a gluten intolerance. When my gluten free toastie came, the chef had decided it looked very small and so had made an extra one for me, which was so lovely. We will definitely be back if we manage to secure the house we are viewing

We’ve literally just came from the White Mare now. We live nearby so we just came down for a bite to eat. The lady behind the bar was absolutely lovely and very welcoming and everything was quick. But the food was awful. Chicken in the Thai green curry (which is neither Thai, green, or a curry and tasteless) was rubbery and my dad’s Mediterranean tart was burned to a crisp. Again though the lady was really lovely and apologetic and offered replacements for the food we sent back, and didn’t charge us for it. My dad has visited many times before though and said the food was good (other dishes). But that off night was a very very bad off night and avoid the dishes I mentioned. Thanks to the lady behind the bar!
