A group of five of us have just had lunch,fish and chips, salmon,and burgers.which were all very nice, plenty food on each plate,no problems at all.the young lad Kyle taking the orders was very professional and good mannered.

Just had a lovely meal with family at The Stag Inn at Crosby. Service was really good from the staff and very helpful.Vegetarian options: Very nice vegetarian bean burger with lots of tasty sides.

Booked a table for 7. We were one of two groups in the restaurant, the other being a couple of who apparently had a very similar experience to us: Point being: It was very quiet. They weren’t rushed off their feet.We were told when we arrived that some menu items may be out of stock. No big deal, we went off what’s there and ordered.First, 2 pies arrived. 20 minutes later, we were told that they had no rice for the Jambalaya (right as the two who ordered the pies were finishing their food). No explanation as to why they didn’t tell us about this at the beginning. They obviously started cooking the Jambayla after finishing the the pies.We made substitutions and then had to wait another 20-25 minutes, making it a 40-50 minute difference between the 2 pies arriving and the rest of the food. We would have quite liked to have dessert, but we’d probably have to wait 3-5 working days for that.One item was missing completely, others were not the quality we’ve had in the past. All in all a shoddy experience.I’d suggest that instead of sitting upstairs, the manager comes down and tries running his restaurant. The service is abysmal and inexperienced staff are getting it in the neck.

We went for a meal the Friday before Christmas and 2 out of the 4 of us left without a bite to eat!! We arrived at 7pm (booked earlier in the week), and sat until 7.45 before our order was taken. The 2 starters arrived after 8.30pm, the potato and leek soup looking like baby food....then nothing else!! At 9.30pm we saw the young female who was trying her best to cook...was in tears!! The management entered the kitchen 3 times to ask the staff "how are we doing", but didn't once offer to help/support!!!! For a statement to be made of 22 years experience in the business, it's very sad that the 22 year experienced person didn't support his staff who were trying their best!!! Rhonda, we wish you a speedy recovery!

I ate here with a group of friends. The service, portions and food were all excellent. We have been regular visitors of the Stag Inn once a year for several years and I can honestly say we have never had a single bad meal. The staff are always very welcoming and the food is always excellent - you will certainly never leave The Stag Inn hungry!

Was absolutely terrible food was served in batches which meant we were unable to eat at same time a lot of menu items weren't available but weren't told when booking it might be a restricted menu nobody else in apart from one couple so not busy young lad behind the bar and the cook were absolutely brilliant both looked totally fed up can't say what landlord looked like cos didn't show his face he needs to spend more time in the bar supporting and helping his staff and less time upstairs avoiding people

I wanted a cooling off period before writing this. I understand that the usual chef had an accident a few days prior to Christmas Day and temporary staff were bought in, however, this is no excuse for poor management. I feel that if the issues of the chef and staff had been communicated to the diners from the outset, a lot of upset on both sides could have been avoided, instead the manager hid behind the bar and allowed his very young staff to bear the brunt of angry customers. The food was beyond poor and the service abysmal.

I’ve never in my life had such awful service. Went for Xmas dinner family of 7 for a 3 course meal. We didn’t get any starter no explanation why, baring in mind we had paid in advance. Main course was terrible which consisted of one Brussels sprout and one no veg . No pudding because the cheees cake didn’t set. We did get our money back but wish we had been told in advance, so we could have stayed at home

Really really disappointed with the food and service tonight. We booked a table for Christmas Eve but didn’t get our order taken until we’d been in for 45 minutes despite asking. We were told they had a large order but we’d booked our table early. Food then took another 45 minutes and was not up to usual standard. Have been coming to the Stag for years but won’t be back as much nicer places worth the £50 price tag. Don’t rush here.

Called in for a meal,ordered Cumberland horseshoe off the menu. When I received the food the chips were barely warm and lots of hard bits.i literally ate the Cumberland sausage, a few of the chips that were not very warm,fried egg which was fine and a couple of bits of mushroom which also were barely warm and quite watery. When the staff came and got my plate he asked was it ok. I told him I wasn't happy as alot of the meal was cold and I thought the chips could have been yesterday's. He said he would speak to the chef but I had to go and ask what had been said. The reply was I had eaten the meal,there was majority of it still on plate apart from the hot bits I mentioned above. Also he said the chips had been done this morning,even looking on some plates that had just been brought out the chips looked a massive improvement compared to what I received. I wouldn't normally complain or write a review but I have had meals several times that have been lovely,hence why I called in there tonight. I also had half a tomato that was hot enough,still not much of a deal for 15 pound
