Ordered a takeout come to £36 2 special fried rice, 1 sweet sour chicken 1 plain noodles, an a crab soup, daughter took her special fried rice upstairs, me an him left ours until we had few drinks, eventually we went into kichen open our food only to notice mouse droppings in noodles I said to him look at that he couldn’t eat his food, shouted up to kid don’t eat any more of that food, trying to phone them to complain but wasn’t open after 10pm, I will personally phone them, tomorrow, I need to state I put the chicken down for the dog, an my boy refused it! That’s says something!! Never eat there again, mouse droppings wtf!!!!

I've been a resident of Ulverston for over 2 decades, and when The Lotus first opened I became a regular because it presented more restaurant style versions of the typical takeaway, very fresh and not too heavy. But in recent times I'm not sure what's going on, maybe because of lack of custom due to lock down they've decided to rely on certain elements being cooked from frozen. Sweet and sour pork is one of my favourite dishes, and some time last year I ordered this to extreme disappointment when the deep fried battered pork was extremely overcooked, hard as bullets with the insides so dry it was like saw dust. It certainly put me off returning to this establishment for quite a while. Then the other day I thought I'd give them another chance, as perhaps they just may have had a bad day last time, but the same thing happened again, rock hard bullets with saw dust inside! The rest of the dish was OK, the stir fried veg element being quite fresh and the sauce really tasty, but unfortunately when the main part of the dish is inedible it kind of ruins the whole thing.

Don't be mistaken by the appearance of this business. Fantastic food and loads of it. Worth every penny.

Person on phone’s understanding of English was limited. Food was alright, prawn crackers bland and salt and pepper chicken wings covered in way too much sugar that it was sweeter than salty

Always had good food from them and courteous staff. Food is always freshly prepared and hot.

The Salt and Pepper box at £11.50 or £13.50 delivered is exceptionally good and great feedback on this too.. I buy one every week.....

I've been in here recently and the food is really good. My preferred Chinese in Ulverston

Shocking place, we ordered over £70 of food and everything has sugar in! EVERYTHING! Would give 0 stars if I could. Save yourselves from this place!Salt and pepper box was particularly bad.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Having grown up running a Chinese takeaway, I could tell the prawn crackers were at least 3 days old.Salt and pepper box was not impressive either; Ribs barely had any meat on and was just batter, chicken balls were similar, chicken and pork nuggets were like bullets. Accompanied with chips, everything was covered and doused in sugar.Only saving grace was the special chow mein, which was only because the other dishes were severely underwhelming.Hire a different chef/s, change your recipes/ingredients, or change the business entirely.

Got over 70 quids worth of food, all the salt and peppers foods were covered in sugar, a lot of sugar! All the sauce based foods were sloppy and starchy, prawn crackers were stail. Chow mein had nothing to it and bland.... go elsewhere.

Sauces are bland and gloopy. Gloopy to the point it doesnt flow off your cutlery and resembles wall paper paste.Duck and chicken were overcooked to the point they were tough and dry.Salt & pepper wings, salt & pepper chips all covered in sugar and just tasted weirdly sweet.Prawn crackers were even staleWould not recommend in the slightest... if you are desperate for a Chinese and this is the only place open, go get a dirty kebab.

After recently moving to ulverston I have been trying various take aways. The lotus staff were friendly and the food was made to high standards. Will definitely be coming back to try something new !
