Pie night experience was great, choice of 6 pies as well as normal menu, hand made pies were delicious, my wife not a fan of the pastry (as she’s always on some weight loss crusade) but I thought the shortcrust was excellent and made the pie, I had meat and potato which was tasty and cooked superbly, my wife had Lamb and mint which was also tasty but she felt the filling was slightly chewier than mine , but as I pointed out, they were 2 different pies . I have never had a bad experience here staff friendly, accommodating and attentive to all our needs, food excellent value for money and superb quality. I would highly recommend it

Came here for breakfast with a friend this month. Breakfast was lovely, nice size, filling and the best part is you can choose what you like on the breakfast. As opposed to set menu. Plenty of choice . The taste was nice, flavourful. The staff are friendly. The decor is tired however it looks like the pub is under renovation.

Had Christmas lunch here today with a group of people who I support. Food was delicious. Fresh, hot and huge portions. Staff are lovely and friendly . There is one step into the pub but they have a ramp if you ask. Nothing too much trouble ?

We had a truly enjoyable experience here for my stepdad’s birthday. Three of us had rump steaks, all cooked to our liking. I opted to add a Diane sauce to mine. I was expecting a small pot but I was served what could only be compared to a gravy boat, and I could not put it down! Other members of the party ordered hunters chicken and a tikka massala. They catered both chips and rice for the curry, not even batting an eyelid at the request. The service was impeccable, they truly deserved their tip. I have recommended to friends already and will certainly be returning. Special shout out to Cathy, whom we have known for some years but treated us all professionally regardless. Thank you so much!

Visited here for lunch for the 1st time yesterday, Saturday 9th Dec, with my husband & cousin. The outside of the pub is a bit ordinary, it's at the end of a terrace of small shops & other pubs but the inside is lovely, well decorated, warm & welcoming with several small rooms. We'd booked a table which was a good idea as it was very busy. There was a wide choice on the menu plus a 2 for £16 lunchtime menu of dishes for smaller appetites. The 3 of us ordered from the main menu, the food took a while to arrive but I think that's a good thing that shows it was all homemade & it was piping hot, on hot plates which is very important to me. My husband loved his lamb shank, my cousin loved his omelette & the chunky homemade chips we all had were amazing ! My steak pie was very big but I felt the pastry was a bit too thick in proportion to the meat filling. There was plenty of veg & delicious gravy too. The portions were very generous. Also the waitresses we had were lovely, hard working & friendly, I think their names were Amber & Ellie, they're a credit to the Three Horseshoes. My cousin really enjoyed his jam sponge & custard, my husband & I only had room to share an After Eight cheesecake with ice cream which was delicious . Overall we really enjoyed our meals, our cousin thought it was the best pub meal he's had & we would definitely return again to this pub when in Chesterfield, thank you for a lovely meal.

A good range on the menu and everything cooked perfectly. You'll need a good lie down after a meal here as the portions are generous. There is a good choice of hand pulled draught beers.

My friend has had 4 of the 5oz steak lunchtime special meals, the first pretty good, 2nd inedible but she didn't want to be a complainer, 3rd got sent back as couldnt cut it with the steak knife and was replaced, 4th a fair bit better but plenty of grisley bits still so approx half got taken home for the dog. Lovely waitress took the price of one of their drinks off the bill. Also during another meal the mash potatoes were lumpy and unseasoned, between us we have found the lasagne and pie very good meals. The choice of chip style should be on the menu too rather than just saying chunky chips!

First time visiting. Lovely little pub, cozy & homely. Good variety on the menu & reasonably priced. We ordered the the creamy garlic mushrooms from the starters, it was nice but very soggy. The Halloumi, Aubergine & Mushroom burger, I thought this would be all in one kinda a patty but it wasn't it was 2 battered halloumi burgers with a slice of aubergine in between with mushrooms on the side, it was OK, very greasy, personally think it would have been nicer with just one halloumi burger, some salad on the burger & something like a chilli jam, asked for chunky chips & received sweet potatoe fries, it was a nice meal not sure I would order again. We also ordered the 10oz rump steak, asked for blue & it was cooked to perfection. Very generous portion sizes, good value for money, would definitely recommend & revisit.

We popped in for lunch and highly recommend! They have a lunch time special price of 2 Mains for £16. Hubby had the Roast of the Day and it was huge with a sepárate helping of freshly cooked veggies. I had the Ham, Eggs & chips and it was so good! It came with garden peas, I'm not a fan so asked if I could have carrots instead, It wasn't a problem and the waiting and bar staff are so friendly

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Lovely hot food. Really pleasant attentive staff. Good value for money. I had the small turkey lunch which would have classed as large anywhere else. My friend had the lambshank she thought this was excellent.
