I booked the Exeter Arms for a Christmas friends get together and what an excellent choice. The first thing to notice was we got a very warm welcome, all the staff there are friendly and chatty. We ordered our food which arrived in a normal amount of time especially as it was near Christmas and busy. The food was fabulous. We will definately go back again.

Service was beyond reproach from start to finish - excellent festive food and wines along the way (as always) - all staff were brilliant and JACK looked after us along the way - he couldn't have possibly done any more to make us happy - checking in on us every 15 mins, or so - this guy (whatever he is paid) is not enough - he deserves a pay rise!! Thanks for everything guys and see you in 2024 - Happy Christmas and please look after Jack!

A colleague did some research and found this place when we recently visited Derby. What a find. Their ‘strap line’ is a rural pub in urban Derby and that is really fitting. We arrived on a cold December evening and there was a roaring fire and a very warm welcome from the staff. The pub was packed and staff quickly secured a table for two. The food was great pub food; the pie selection and kebab dishes were really tasty. However the highlight was the friendly and engaging staff. Attentive and really helpful they delivered first class service - well done.

There are (sadly) a great many pub proprietors who should visit The Exeter Arms to see just how to do things properly! My business colleague and I visited for a couple of drinks and a meal after work and we could not have been more impressed. The ambiance, beer and food were all absolutely excellent; food was piping hot and tasty. Special thanks to front of house team Connor, Charlie and others, and the chef Patrick, all of whom and their colleagues deserve sincere recognition and our appreciation. I would not hesitate to return and I very much look forward to doing so. Well done to all, and thank you.

We've just got here and I can only say 'at last! A proper English pub!' Just ordered some food which hasn't yet arrived but judging by the look of everyone else's it's going to be fab! And yes....it was as good as it looked. ? An all round brilliant place.

If I were asked to describe my perfect pub, The Exeter Arms is as close as it gets! It has a series of cosy rooms with conversation-starting decor. The beer is superb, and the menu is outstanding: everything we ate was tasty and freshly-cooked. Any pub relies on its staff, and the staff at The Exeter are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Highly recommended.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian choices on the menu are well thought-out and tasty. I can recommend the falafel wraps.

What a treat! Fantastic pub just out of the city centre. Great beers on draught. Friendly welcome. Lovely atmosphere. So five stars before you get to the food. And that's also five stars. Good menu with enough range to cater for most tastes, but but silly..Well executed and good value.Flawless from start to end. Highly recommended.

Great selection of beers and wines. Menu consisting of meals from down "memory lane" and the new favourites. The decor enhances a great atmosphere. Love it.

People say hand cut chips, these are the best hand cut chips bar none!!! Scotch egg starter nailed it, runny yoke, crispy outer and taste spot on. Fish and chips. The freshest fish with a great touch of cockles on top. Chips already covered enough said. My go to place. Fully recommend

Great pub in an unassuming location. Food was very good, some good takes on more traditional pub food and good portion sizes. Atmosphere inside catered for everyone, a couple different rooms with music over the speakers. Wide drinks selection. Obviously very popular as the majority of tables were booked, but all at differing times so plenty of space to pop in and use the table for an hour or two. Large outdoor space too.

We phoned the Exeter Arms on Friday night to see if they could squeeze us in on Saturday night and are we glad they did?! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was wonderful. Friendly, welcoming, happy staff and a lovely atmosphere. Not once did the customer service waiver; we were treated like old friends and felt so incredibly comfortable in there. The food was amazing!! Oh my goodness, 6 meals, all cooked to perfection and beautifully tasty. The Viking Burgers were amazing, my daughter wanted another KFC for dessert :-) and the veggie burger "could easily fool a meat eater" according to one of our party. We cannot fault our experience. We had lovely food, great drinks and a warm welcome. Thank you all so much

Been in on many occasions bar staff always remember you and recommend new ales that have come in . I ordered a late Sunday dinner which I was told Robbie and Demi was the chefs cooking today. To say I was blown away with the food would be an understatement presentation time it came out service went above anywhere I’ve I’ve been . Keep it up team. Amazing place to take friends family or pop in by one self

What a find! Excellent pub with great local beers and excellent food. Menu was varied and we enjoyed it so much we went back a second night. High quality food, well prepared and presented by friendly staff. Will definitely return when next in the area.

Sunday Lunch was utterly brilliant. I often feel a bit aggrieved when eating out as I can do better food myself, not a chance I can match the cooking here. They also have several decent beers and a couple of ciders which are well looked after. The staff are great on the customer service front too. I thoroughly recommend
