Very surprised to find most of the cafes shut in town but luckily we found the Fig Coffee House right at the end of the street! We had a really warm welcome from the lovely staff and the food was delicious and fresh. I can highly recommend the lemon cake. It was on the expensive side especially for a toddler but I would definitely go back! Dogs were welcome but it is a small cafe and not much room for big dogs. ?Dietary restrictions: I saw gluten free optionsKid-friendliness: Very friendly with a few toys. No highchair or specific kids options

I dropped in as I was early to see friends.I liked the look straight away. Very pleasant staff. Coffee spot on. I liked the feel of this place and felt chilled. I will be coming here again for sure. Maybe a breakfast next time I go.

Lovely cafe with great service! They were great at explaining the menu and gave lovely service even though we were a big group - cheese scones were very tasty!

Reply to owner: could you clarify who "stepped in"? No one stepped in. We had spent nearly 40 mins in there for 2 coffees. I just wanted to pay the bill as I was on hour parking and wanted to walk through Matlock? I was never rude to anyone. It's not in my nature. A business owner who has to spurt lies about customers in order to justify their own poor customer service levels and bad mouth them because they dare to leave a bad review, shouldn't be in business. You know where you can stick the peace and love., we justed wanted coffee without the need to bring a sleeping bag and tent. The place looks fantastic, hence the reason for going in. Big however, the service was appalling. We're told it was table service - after begging to be served we finally had our order taken, they then forgot the order. Then took forever to arrive. Then had to virtually beg to pay. Dressed up lady seemed to think it was below her pay grade to serve customers. At least 2 families left because they got sick of waiting. Most tables were otherwise empty. The coffees were minute and extortionate. Advise - walk through Matlock and find somewhere else. Much cheaper and service a million times better.Wheelchair accessibility: Steps to get inside

I visited here in February half term and was very disappointed. I feel it was overpriced at over £17 for two coffees and two slices of cold dry carrot cake. Wouldn’t visit again sorry.

Without a doubt the best coffee I've had my entire time in Matlock, and if you want a server who is just so sweet and honestly a ray of sunshine, the lady with the dreadlocks (I'm sorry I can't remember her name!) was
