Fantastic views, superb food, friendly staff, lots to see and do.The Highlight for us were Mrs Brassington the doctors wife and the owner (two wonderfully skilled actors) who were absolutely ? from the 1800s astonishing ad hoc interaction with these wise and amazing time travelled authentic real humans was mind blowing fun especially Mrs Brassington. Fantastic day out, check winter closing and booking the cable car. Enjoy!

The Heights of Abraham is a tourist attraction in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, UK. It’s a hilltop park that can be reached by cable car, and it offers stunning views of the surrounding area. The attraction features cavern tours, walking trails, and various activities, making it a popular destination for visitors to the Peak District. It is a bit pricey as you need to purchase cable car tickets to go up but the price of the ticket includes two guided tours in two different caves. It has a restaurant and a cafe with a variety of delicious cakes and savoury foods with a a beautiful view of a valley! It’s a bit cheaper if you buy tickets on line . If you come on a weekend be prepared to struggle to find parking as it’s very popular are in general so google your options for parking.

Amazing!!I think we booked ticket for about 10am. Stayed until about 2:30pm. Its a whole day of fun. 2 amazing cave tours: props to Sophie! A nice mineral/rock shop and amazing views. Not really for people with low mobility, but there are some areas to chill, and there's a video tour of the caves in a building for people who cant go in. The food in the cafe was amazing too! Great nachos, I got the pulled pork burger, and my partner had fish & chips. Highly rated. Book tickets in advance and check to see if your hotel offers discounts in partnership.

A fantastic day out learning about this area and its history! We had Andi for our first cavern tour and she was absolutely amazing! She gave us a brief history and geology info on the limestone and when the cavern were being mined.Mr. Benjamin Bryan was another delight! He gave us a short tour and was great in character!!The walk around was pleasant with plenty of information on boards and online along the way!The cable car to and from the park was great too! Our dog loved the day and she was made very welcome!!Don’t forgot to look beyond the park and into Derbyshire! The views are breathtaking!!

It's an extraordinary place to go to as a day trip! The scenery from the cable car and the view from the mountain top are amazing and refreshing (obviously try going on a day with good weather). There are many attractions up there. All the staffs there (including the owner Benjamin!) have provided the best services I've experienced so far. They are all really friendly, professional and very enthusiastic about this place. I'm sure this strong enthusiasm influences all the visitors in a positive way. It was my anniversary and their enthusiasm has made our day so fantastic, thank you! The two Carven tour guides are the must-go, they deliver such fabulous tours. We had Melanie for our tour guide and personally it's the best tour guide I had so far!

Hadn't heard of this place before but was pleasantly surprised when we visited this weekend. Lovely views over Matlock Bath from the cable car. The guided tours of the caverns were very interesting, but be warned; the hills and steps you need to walk up/down can be very tiring even for fit people.

Great day out, beautiful views and all staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend the Mason Cavern tour. Our tour guide Dave was brilliant, he gave us a very engaging and informative tour. Thank you!

I went to the Heights of Abraham on the 15.08.2023 for low-light Photography practice.I have attached a few ‘tourist’ photos for the curious public to see what the location and it’s many views are like. The experience was great, from the start to finish. The cable cars are spacious, safe, secured with thick rope, with a cross section of the rope viewable inside one of the attractions, and ventilated. An enjoyable, albeit short, experience. The attending staff are friendly professional and polite. On the return journey a few people in the group were nervous and the attendees went out of their way to lift spirits, tell jokes, and put them at ease. The tours of the caverns are conducted well. They are informative, humorous, and one includes some brief acapella, with no whistling. The steps inside the caverns are, unavoidably, a little steep due to nature of the caverns and so those with mobility impairments may want to approach them with caution – there are plenty of vistas to see that are accessible through out the area. The food is well made and presented. The thick cut bacon and brie panani with tomato, pepper and salad is under £10 and there is both indoor and outside seating although the metal bar on the main outside seating area does obstruct the view a little. The exhibits are interesting, informative and well presented. We have included a few images of a few of the items on display for the curious reader. The incline of the entire area is steep but accommodations have been made.Overall an enjoyable experience but do be prepared for some cardio.

Went for a walk with the little lady. Was very steep so brace yourself! No good for anyone with a fear of heights as it is particularly high and I didn’t make it to the top neither as my little lady was absolutely worn out! Was a nice walk though and the weather helped with the enjoyment factor. No good for wheelchair access however as mentioned before it is all steps and uphill walking. Parking was a pain though and took a fair while to get parked up! Was quite busy looking at the number of cars but when we started walking only saw a couple of people about. All in all it was a good couple of hours and would definitely recommend.

This is a great spot geared towards kids/ families. We aren't in this demographic, so 2 hours was enough, and that included all the queuing.Long queue up for cable car and you'll be grouped with others to maximise space (6 per car). Had our own cable car on the way down which was nice.Cave tour was fun and there were 70 of us in our group. Think they run every half hour and you queue for the next session. Jordan's well rehearsed quips added to the experience. If they're your guide you've lucked out.Punch and Judy isn't for us, so we gave that a wide birth, but overhead others saying it was fun to watch.Nearest carpark (also station carpark) was full and very slow (busy junction). We parked at Artist Corner carpark, a good 10 min walk along the main road.Plan ahead and allow a lot of time to park, especially in the afternoon. At time of review, going by train and showing your tickets gets 20% off entry.Due to terrible traffic we rearranged our booking and this was very straightforward over the phone and very appreciated.

Nice for something different to do. Make sure you book a table at the restaurant. Interesting stories, the guides were great. Punch and Judy was fab. Make sure u take a waterproof coat. The cable cars are also good.

Cable car ride gives a great view over Matlock bath. Cavern tours are very informative . Robert Walker (Aka Frank) was our tour guide on the Great Rutland cavern tour very welcoming, He makes the tour fun and educational for both the parents and children. My daughter chose this as a birthday morning out, and we are all glad she did. Great family memories. Will be visiting again, no doubt.

We travelled to The Heights of Abraham on Monday during our staycation in the Peak District. Car park at the station was easy to find and affordable. Our children loved the uniqueness of the cable car, the caverns and playgrounds on offer here. The pouring rain only added to the atmosphere and did not dampen our enjoyment. Our 3 year old managed the steps up and down into the caverns and the steep walking trails. We eat lunch in the cafe, our boys enjoyed their generous panini and we shared some chilli beef chips. The Punch & Judy show was a welcomed sit down and the children found it amusing.I would recommend a visit to our friends and family.

Some impressive views, some good activities over the summer to occupy the kids, Punch and Judy shows, mini beach, trail, arts and craft etc.Food in the cafe was ok, though some quite pricey, nearly £9 for a pepperoni panini. £2.50 for a can of drink. Some VERY steep parts, one visitor almost toppled her buggy trying to get round a corner on a hill, so be careful.

Beautiful scenery and had a great time exploring the caves with the H.O.A tour. The staff were all friendly and would be happy to revisit again in the future ? it was worth paying £25 for the ticket cost, as you get lost in the amazing natural view all around you, if you enjoy walking, hiking or outdoors in general, then you need to visit this place. Perfect for families, and the food prices is that equal to Nandos, so not too bad ?My only con is parking! H.O.A does not technically have its own parking spots, and the ones nearby are a nightmare, took me an hour to find a spot and even then had to walk 10-15 mins to get there and paid £6.Also don't wear your best trainers for the day, unless you don't mind it getting mucky ?
