What a fab evening we’ve just had at The Red Lion for their chefs table. Matt and Alison were the perfect double act, Matt explaining the lovely food he had made us from his childhood in Sardinia and Alison almost sharing the family chocolate liqueur recipe that Matt doesn’t even know. The food was just delicious from start to finish. If they do this evening again, I would highly recommend you try and book a table. Thanks Matt and Alison.

Loitered outside the red lion birchover yesterday wondering if they could accommodate my group of 8adults, 4kids and 3dogs without a booking and they absolutely could. The team there pushed some tables together in the bar near the fire and welcomed us in. Sunday roasts all round came out together and hot with loads of trimmings, service and friendliness from the team was top draw.If you’re visiting Birchover this is the place to unwind, warm up and refuel after a days walking. Thank you team Red Lion.Vegetarian options: The vegi Sunday roast option was beautifulKid-friendliness: No trouble at all to accommodate my grandkids

Convenient spot for a drink on the walk. Bit of a nightmare for parking if you were to drive up. Nice atmosphere. Not a huge space so it can get quite busy.

Classic country pub run by a lovely couple who have made the effort to keep it authentic. Menu is limited but excellent and original….lovely atmosphere and dogs are allowed in the tap room.Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian options, food is top notch and one of the reasons I like this pub so much. You can tell that everything’s made in house withfresh local produce.

We were camping nearby so ate at the Red Lion for two nights. The food was fantastic especially on Saturday when we had an amazing chef's Sardinian style special. The staff are really friendly and they have a good choice of beers. It's also a good pub for drinks only as the restaurant area is separate. We'll be back.

Lovely and friendly brew pub that makes its own beer, cheese and bread.
