We visited this adorable little pub last week and had a great time. Great atmosphere, nice to find some thoughtful veggie options, I had the moving mountains burger which is incredible! My partner had the steak and stilton pie which looked great too. Will definitely be back in the summer to make the most of the beer garden! Staff very friendly too, good beer, what more could you want?

We love this pub. Our plans unexpectedly changed at the last minute so we booked a weeks holiday in Cromford. We came here because of this pub! We love everything about this pub, the ambiance, the food, the staff and the location. You really couldn’t ask for more in my opinion. We are a family of 5 with three young children and they cater for all. We will be back.

Pleasant pub with friendly staff. Food acceptable, but not great. The batter on my fish was rather soggy and the chips were uninspiring but edible. Desserts, on the other hand, were delicious. Overall, a good evening out!

Friendly pub, great ambience, and a lovely range of vegetarian food, with some unusual and imaginative options! We were only staying in Cromford for 3 nights, but the Boat Inn was so good we ate here every night! Wish we lived a bit nearer.....

Despite checking food serving times earlier in the day (12 to 8pm) we were refused service at 7.05pm saying kitchen wasn't taking any more orders! Very disappointing. Member of staff we dealt with was very unfriendly.

Stayed over at Cromford and we called into the Boat for a drink at lunch time, sat outside in the lovely garden, and then returned in the evening for dinner. Very warm and friendly welcome on both occasions and dog-friendly, which works for us. We both had the luxury fish pie and treacle pudding and custard, piping hot and delicious. Great service and a great pub, would definitely recommend and will certainly return. Thanks to all.

This is a fantastic pub. We were on holiday in the area and called in for a meal on a Thursday evening, quiz night. The service was warm, friendly and polite. The food was brilliant. I had the vegetarian 3 bean chilli followed by ginger sponge with custard. Both were really tasty. There was a good selection of hand pulled beers. I tried 2 different ones and both were excellent. The quiz was fun, with extras such as a meat raffle and a raffle to win a chance to answer one last question to win £150. This rolled over if it wasn't answered correctly. We didn't win, but had a great night. All the staff deserve credit for their warmth and their impressive level of service. The food, the beer, the atmosphere and the service were all top notch!

Lovely pub, great friendly staff, very dog friendly, good value food and very generous portion sizes. We went on steak night, £13.95 for a mixed grill and it was huge and tasty. Old peculiar on draft also very nice, real ales choice was good. Alcohol free beers available too. Parking difficult with limited on street parking, no time limit on parking in the evening. Lovely location though.Parking: On street parking, time limit in daytime.

Very nice cosy pub, staff very friendly & efficient, Locals very friendly & welcoming. food very tasty, Beef lasagne, veg lasagne, fish box, Black & blue burger all very tasty. We didnt have puddings as we were all full, good size portions. We did have 2 latte & cappuccino to finish & got a lovely Duck chocolate which are made in a shop near the Duck pond, very cute. We stayed for the pub quiz which was good fun & only £1.50. Can recommend & we will come back again. Thank you.

Had a lovely meal here Sunday evening, when most other pubs had finished serving meals. Two of our party had chicken and ham pie with chips with mushy peas, one had burger and I had goats cheese bake. They were all delicious and filling too.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible bar and toilet

Absolutely brilliant. The cook was due to finish at 3pm and we didn't know. Arrived at 3.05 and Shirley the cook bless her stopped on and made us fish chips and peas and scampi chips and peas. Thank you so much ?

Visiting Matlock and Matlock Bath for my birthday, we planned to visit Scarthin books in the afternoon and saw the Boat Inn as being well reviewed. We were welcomed warmly, provided with menus and our orders were taken quickly. Unfortunately the quality of the food could only be described as poor. The fish on the ‘fish burger’ was very thin, heavily battered, and clearly not fresh. There was also nothing else on there and was presented on one of the terrible catering bread cakes that was almost inedible. I am sure we were asked what peas we wanted but it was only afterwards that I realised that there weren’t any on either plate! My chips were the steak-cut frozen type that were very dry - the type I hoped had been confined to the late 1980s. The scampi was ok but who can get frozen scampi wrong and the jacket was fine too really although it had no butter. We were asked how our meals were half way through and it was clear from our response that we were extremely under whelmed but the waitress left anyway. On paying we were not asked about our meals although I did say that we were very dissatisfied with the quality of our food anyway. No real response other than a slight apology on leaving. £33 bill for what can only be described as a poor meal on my birthday. Genuinely perplexed as to how the other reviewers rate this place so highly.

What a lovely cosy pub. Hidden away at the back is a fair sized garden where you can eat and drink. No good for people that are challenged by stairs but room inside to eat and drink so worth a visit

Great “proper”pub, set in a beautiful small village just off the beaten track. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very efficient. The meal we had was first class and served very quickly. My one disappointment was the mixed grill wasn’t available, but to me that only goes to prove its popularity and my second choice of ribeye was excellent. There’s a great choice at the bar,and I have to say the Old Perculiar I had was the best pint of beer I’ve had in a long time. All in all a first class experience.
