I ordered fish and chips to take away tonight. They were wrapped in a polystyrene box and I had to pay for a bag to take them away. They were a good temperature when I got home but they were virtually inedible. The fish was really dry and was stuck to hard batter which I could not eat. Most of the chips were bit ends. I ate the fish that was not stuck to the batter but the batter was inedible.

Most expensive large chips we have ever bought and very small portions which were like warm and taste less .Go elsewhere- worth a drive into Exmouth for quality .

£30+ on a “monster cod” which was the same size as a large as half was batter. A large and standard cheesy chips where cheese was non existent and chips were borderline burnt and 2 pots of curry sauce at £2.40 per pot and each pot barely covered each portion of chips. Robbery. Had bigger and nicer portions of chips and cod in the midlands lets alone right next to the beach.

If you want great, freshly cooked fish and chips this is the place to come. Locally caught fresh fish all cook to order. It is marginally more expensive than elsewhere but then it is a lot better. The only downside is that food is cooked to order, so you might have to wait at peak times. So, turn a negative to a positive and order on-line or by phone and set your collection time. You won't be disappointed.Dietary restrictions: Full range of gluten free cooking using dedicated fryers and utensils.

Haven’t eaten here for a couple of years as we moved away from Devon. But on our visit back to budleigh, this fabulous fish and chip shop was our first port of call. Once again absolutely gorgeous fish and chips and so delicious Gluten free fish and chips, and let me tell you where we live now in Warwickshire there is no fish and chip shop that comes close to how yummy our meals at Budleigh fish and chip shop are.thank you to the lovely owners you offer smashing food and service. Thank you

Bought two bags of chips and they were weird. The larger ones were almost raw and crunchy inside, and the smaller ones were sharp scraps of potato. The outside was strange too. They seemed dehydrated and tough. Yes they filled a hole, but at £6 for 2 bags with one ketchup sachet, we'd hoped for better. Maybe it was a bad day as the other reviews looked ok before we went.

CLICK AND NOT COLLECTPre ordered, on arrival was told to wait for the name to be called out in a chaotic manner. Waited 45mins. Walk in’s got their order before us even when arriving later than us. Then we were told ‘Annie’ has collected our order (obv not us!) We asked why not check the collection codes so things like this don’t happen, to then be told ‘we are too busy to do that’ then had to wait an extra 10 mins for our order to be recooked.WE DIDN’T EVEN RECEIVE OUR FULL ORDER AFTER ALL THAT!We hope Annie enjoyed our order RESPONSE TO REPLY: We did try to ask about our order only to be told to 'wait for the name to be shouted out' We understand that this is a small business so gave the benefit of the doubt and were happy to wait, we could see it was a very busy eve but 45mins was taking the mick. Also items were missing from the order so the problem wasn't fully rectified.

I’m sorry to write this as have had many fish and chips here before had it yesterday evening and the fish if you can call it that was absolutely disgusting I couldn’t even bite the batter it was so hard I think I had a small bit of fish in there and it was like rubber had to throw both portions away I shall not be eating there again disgusting

Recommend the grilled sword fish plate, very simple and delicious. For me the best I've had anywhere else.

One of the best plates of haddock and chips I’ve ever had. Lovely waitress, but didn’t catch her name. We also had the swordfish, which was equally delicious.

Amazing fish and chips, the batter was crispy and the fish very tender. Generous portion of peas. We also had a very tasty fish pie and delicious desserts (crumble, and honey and ginger sponge pudding)

Advised to pre-order to avoid a long wait. Happy to do that, but having to register an account on their website, then find cod and chips is conveniently under their min order value so you have to add extras, then have to input credit card details rather than just use Apple Pay etc….ridiculous. Food was ready on time, average quality, not bad, not worth a detour to.

£25+ for 2 standard cod and chips with 2 sachets of tomato sauce ! The staff had bad attitudes. The chips were old and cold and the pieces of cod were pre-frozen, chewy and tasteless. The batter seemed to have been fried in ancient brake fluid, which ran all over our hands ......and tasted very stale. We have never been charged such a ludicrous price for takeaway fish and chips . Probably the worst we have ever eaten, with most of it ending up in the bin.
