Fantastic pub. One of the best in the country. Great beer and food. Friendly staff and one of the most outstanding interiors you'll find. Google seems reluctant to fix the hours: it's open noon-230pm and 530pm(6pm Sun)-930pm everyday.Parking: Small irregular-shaped car park. No marked spaces.

A real, classic old world pub serving superb real ales on stillage (sadly a very endangered species). On offer is a very pleasant, unfussy lunch menu (on reputation, the vegan pasty sounds better than the meat version!). Parking is available. Access may be a challenge for some during winter, but wonderful during Summer to sit overlooking the Clyst with a well kept beer in hand.

Amazing old fashioned local with no bar. Superb quality beer straight from the cask in the celler.

Just a proper pub, serving proper beer. Old school snug drinking and a long history stretching back to Oliver Cromwell.

We went for an operatic concert in the Malthouse, the setting was perfect, very traditional pub decor but not in a contrived way. The room was ideal for the event, quite intimate. The staff were charming and helpful at all times. I will certainly return for more musical evenings.

Fantastic pub for fans of real ale, but if you're a lager drinker you might be disappointed. Very traditional opening hours so if you visit mid afternoon there won't be anyone there to serve you! Lovely outside in summer, cozy indoors in winter. I believe it has been owned/operated by six generations of the same family.

Delicious food! We had the fish pie, a cheese board and the brownie with coulis - it was incredible. Expertly made Guinness and black

One of the oldest inns in the U.K. recently part of the pub flooded but they switched to another area and kept the beer flowing full credit to all

Historic pub in a beautiful setting beside the river with all beers served by gravity.

One of Devons classic pubs. Must see, must visit. High tide on a warm evening = perfect.
