Had a delightful evening meal at Winslade Manor. Beautifully restored Georgian building creating a real mood for an evening out. Our server (Char) was really impressive: warm, knowledgeable and unusually had eaten most of the dishes (including specials) so was really able to guide us. The food itself was delicious: local produce, beautifully cooked and artistically presented. We had smoked pork belly starter, main courses of duck and venison and a pudding of chocolate and cherry mousses. All supported by a lovely organic Prosecco. The evening was fantastic value at £80 for the two of us on their half price January deal. We can’t wait to return.

Not sure what has happened to this place but the service last night was pretty poor. A very slow service, after a 20 minute wait I had to ask for a menu. No explanation of the menu just, ‘it’s what it says on the menu’, no enthusiasm shown by staff. Really disappointing. Food was fine but not good enough to come back to what I experienced. Shame.

I had arranged an afternoon tea for four for my Mum’s 70th birthday. I don’t live in the area and Lucy was very helpful about me sending some decorations down for them to decorate. Our table was beautifully decorated ready for our arrival, my Mum was so surprised! The food was lovely, they were very attentive and had the dietary requirements spot on. They didn’t charge extra for the soft drinks we had and surprised my mum with a complimentary glass of bubbles. We had a lovely afternoon and she felt very spoilt. I definitely would recommend!

For a restaurant with a michelin star you'd expect better. Every dish was OK but nothing amazing, dessert was 8/10 though, £150 bill for two people with no alcohol. Surprised to see them serving frozen wholesale salt and pepper squid, identical to my local pub.

Decided to stop off in Exeter on our way to Salcombe for the weekend and wanted to get things off to a great start, with a fine dining experience.Winslade Manor is very grand. A beautiful building in lush grounds, presenting quite a site as you approach in the early evening darkness. It's equally grand inside with plenty of smiles to welcome you.We opted for the taster menu (in some ways to compare to our favourite haunts in Cardiff), accompanied with a bottle of English sparkling wine (a Lyme Bay Winery Brut Reserva, which was fantastic). As expected, the courses were well crafted, rich and flavourful - some a little too much (brie and truffle oil), but other striking just the right balance (the red mullet course and the Dartmoor venison with celeriac and blue cheese and pear amazing highlights). Overall, a lovely meal, in lovely surroundings - and we also enjoyed the eclectic mix of background music including some 80s and 90s classics (the barman's playlist apparently).

I recently performed at The Forge at Winslade Manor for the Devon Women In Business Awards. As an entertainer, I meet lots of events teams and I must say, the team at Winslade have the BEST energy and enthusiasm for their clients and suppliers. I was made to feel so welcome and they regularly checked in with me to make sure I was hydrated, fed and comfortable all before, during & after my performance! The evening party was enhanced because of the incredible team here. They were impressively efficient in catering to the guests and nothing was too much trouble. I very much look forward to returning to the venue and if you're interested in hosting an event / wedding here, it's ideal for intimate & larger occasions, so I would highly recommend!

We went to Winslade for a birthday afternoon tea. Overall we were impressed and thought it was good quality. £35 did seem like a lot but we were impressed that our drinks were included in the total even when we asked for a second round and one of us was drinking soft drinks instead of hot drinks. They catered very well for gluten free and the only tiny disappointment was that the gluten free sandwiches were plain and didn’t include condiments like mustard or pickle etc. But perhaps the chef wasn’t sure if these were gluten free. The gluten free scones were very good. The service was friendly and although it took a while for our drinks order to be taken at the start, it was efficient after that.

Went to the taster menu Game night. Absolutely stunning. Throughly enjoyed the menu which although rich was not at all heavy. Wine flight again really well paired with the courses. Interesting evening with Matt Mason and Matt our wine sommelier providing information on the courses, meat sources and wines. Would thoroughly recommend. Excellent value for money and a really enjoyable evening.

I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone! We had a big graduation dinner with 17 people about three months ago, and this spot was just perfect. From making the reservation to sitting down for dinner, the staff was welcoming and accommodating for everyone of us.The food was amazing and it's a fantastic deal for the quality you get. Plus, we had a pretty view to enjoy while we dined,.Honestly, there's no reason not to like this place. I can't wait to go back.

IN THE RESTUARANT, WE WERE SEATED NEXT TO A TABLE OF FOUR BUSINESS MEN. THEY TALKED, INCESSANTLY FOR ONE AND A HALF HOURS BEFORE THEN HAVING A LIGHT SNACK TO CONTINUE THEIR TALKING. WHY WERE THEY IN THE RESTAURANT AND NOT IN THE ALMOST EMPTY, GENEROUS BAR AREA? WE WERE A LITTLE SURPRISED THAT WE WERE EXPECTED TO ORDER OUR TABLE WINE BEFORE WE HAD EVEN HAD A GLIMPSE AT A MENU! WE THOUGHT THAT THE THE CHOICES OF MAIN COURSES WERE DISSAPPOINTING. THIS ELEGANT BUILDING IS IN A VERY FINE SETTING. HOWEVER, THE LUNCHEON DID NOT LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS - PITY.

3 of us went for a Sunday lunch. Staff most friendly and welcoming on arrival. We ordered from the Sunday lunch menu and the food was absolutely wonderful. Beautifully presented and tasted amazing! The first time we’ve all ate here but I’m sure it won’t be the last!

Having received good reports from friends we made our first visit today.Really excellent lunch in attractive surroundings- every mouthful was delicious (smoked duck starter, rack of lamb main and sticky date pud) Seated and served by a charming young man who also offered some useful wine suggestions. They went out of their way to accommodate my garlic sensitivity - very impressed. Great choice and volume of music too. Looking forward now to our lunch already booked for Dec 24th??

We were recommended it here by a friend, so decided to give it a go. And we were so glad we did! We were greeted by the lovely staff who showed us to the bar area where we had some wine and a browse at the menus. Charlie was very informative and told us some history of the house, and he showed us to our table. There was lovely music and candlelight. We had 3 courses and honestly couldn’t fault it. Particularly the filet of beef which was so tender and perfectly cooked. It was by far the best steak we’d had in years, Charlie was attentive and fun, and made my husband and I feel extra special. We had a wonderful night and will definitely come back soon.
