We attended as a group of 10 for a tribute night. We had one lady who was celiac and this was noted when we pre ordered the food choices. Our food was great, she was given Pasta in her stuffed pepper. We complained and the food went away, no alternatives or a free drink was offered or a full refund. Very disappointing as she was ill the next day. very disappointing!! We did enjoy the evening and the entertainment. (Take dietary requests seriously)

I checked their web site before I left and they offered a range of sandwiches and paninis, only when I got there was offered one pre packed sandwich.

We were seated quickly on a nice table overlooking the golf course and given menu which included drinks but no wine menu. The waiter was not sociable. No one round to ask so I went to the bar and asked. A miserable girl just plonked the bottle of wine on our table with no wine cooler and looking around no one else had one. Starter and main course came within a reasonable time and food was enjoyable. The waiter when clearing main course plates did not ask about deserts so after a few minutes I again went to the bar to ask for desert menu from miserable girl leaning on the bar. We waited fifteen minutes or longer for our desert. We have been here many times and always had good service. The foreign waiter was very good and did ask us if the food was ok and did apologise for the delay. He is a credit to the establishment but the other waiter and waitress were very poor by their poor attitude towards us. People on the next table to us complained about the delay. Had it not been for the poor service I would have given a 5 rating.

Do not use this restaurant if there is a large party. I booked for 25 people spread over 6 tables to eat lunch and although they had my reservation for over 3 weeks they could not cope. Each table ordered separately and we asked for the food to be delivered per table and not all 25 together. Unfortunately one table had to wait over 90 minutes to get their food and then one of the orders was incorrect and had to wait a further 20 minutes for her food. Some People arrived 15 minutes early but the rude waitress refused to give us a menu until it was 12 o’clock, the time our tables were booked for. One table watched the chef, who didnt seem happy to be working, man handle the customers food. The next day I wrote and complained about the service but have still not had a reply hence this review. All 25 of us will NOT be using this restaurant again, I suggest you think twice before booking.

We attended a luncheon party , hoping that we were going to be well fed and well looked after, what a disappointment, The food was lukewarm, the vegetables were under cooked it had a biscuit crumb why, hardly any gravy certainly not value for money. I have now given this place four chances still no improvement

Ordered Dorset lamb shepherds pie, Tasteless like instant mashed potatoes accompanying vegetables overcooked and lacking flavour. Service slow was told there was 45 minute wait for dessert needless to say did not have dessert. Friends also complained about food and service. Thoroughly dissapointing,

Welcoming atmosphere. Friendly waiters. Prompt service. Beautiful view over the golf course. Reasonable choice of dishes on the lunchtime menu. A very pleasant meal out. Prices reasonable and I would definitely return.

There was plenty of room in the restaurant when we arrived but we were seated near a table of approx 30 golfers who were shouting above each other to be heard. Unfortunately because of this the 6 of us on our table couldn’t hear each other. Also the service was very slow. Our meals sat on the counter without the heat lamps on for quite a while therefore the food wasn’t particularly hot when it got to us.

What a fabulous meal we had. The customer service was exceptional. Thank you very much. Our 11 month old granddaughter loved every second. You were so accommodating. I highly recommend Spikes Bistro.

Had a round of golf booked today with 4 friends and we decided to go for breakfast at Spikes bar first. Very poor breakfast in many ways, meant to a buffet style but had a choice of sausage eggs, hash browns & beans. Hash browns were all broken, beans were congealed. When we went up to get our breakfast and there was nothing there so we stood for over 5 minutes waiting, a man kept looking at us but never acknowledged us at all , when he eventually bought some food to put in the trays he kind of threw the food onto them like he did not care. 2 breakfasts cost £25. Very, very poor. Shame as it is a lovely gold course, just go somewhere else for breakfast.

Two of us had lunch today. Very disappointing. Pate with toast and no butter. Liver dry and quite hard. Chicken tikka masala ( in a deep bowl). Was very, very dry. Unable to eat most of it.

Visited here with friends on Monday, 8th November for lunch. 2 of us ordered the chicken & mushroom pie and asked for chips instead of mash which was OK. However disappointed that the pie arrived in a 'bowl' not a plate and there was no gray therefore very dry. My husband and friend had the lamb which they both said was very nice, however I had to go to the bar to request mint sauce for them. We were given sweet menu but that was it, no-one came to take the order so I went to the bar. Ordered 2 x lemon roulade, which was very nice and 2 x pear and peach crumbles 'with CUSTARD' on arrival both had ice cream. Our last visit was not as good as before lockdown i.e. scampi and chips you used to have a choice of peas or salad, now there is no choice, just peas. We have used Spikes bar for quite some time now but we think standards have dropped.

Nice outlook over the golf course. Tables well spaced and patio doors open. Food quite good but fairly basic. Varied choice. Service quite slow.

I recently visited Spike’s Bistro with my family and we all enjoyed an outstanding meal. I had the simply delicious crab & prawn linguine, topped with mussels and deep fried parsley. Two of my relatives had perfectly cooked steak, with all the trimmings and my mother thoroughly enjoyed her Sea Bass; she is diabetic and the meal was served swiftly as a result. Another member of the family enjoyed the homemade Thai Green curry. The Chef even makes his own paste, and he will adjust the heat to suit your palate. I can also heartily recommend the homemade dessert Menu - particularly the Honey & Ginger steamed pudding which hit the spot and was sublime! Our plates returned clean! Friendly, efficient Staff and beautiful surroundings added to our enjoyment of a First Class Menu. A huge thank you - we’ll be returning soon. JB
