I searched on Google for a dog friendly Sunday roast pub to meet my parents - we were from Exeter they from sixpenny Handley. They bought drinks. We arrived. Then told we couldn't stay with dog. We explained and also said we had cancelled a different booking for this one. We had to leave. So disappointed and it should be made more obvious that dogs are not allowed - on Google search, website and when they arrived with dog

Quick service, lovely food and great people serving us. I have been to the pub a few times and in our last visit we had a big group of people with us (35 or more) and everyone got served pretty quickly and no complaints whatsoever. Thanks very much for the great service. Camila Raynsford

I requested a certain table when I booked online but really didn't expect to be given it. I was delighted however when I arrived and saw my name on the table I'd requested! Great service. I also didn't have to wait to be served each time I went to the bar to order. The staff were very friendly and polite and the food was good. A good portion size on the scampi was good to see! Short drinks were rather expensive but I think that's everywhere these days. I didn't have any this time but the Merlot is very good and I appreciate that! All in all a great experience. Thank you.

Very enjoyable, well cooked, and ell presented food. Hobgoblin was a very good beer. It's a shame that this pub, with friendly and helpful staff, is tatty around the edges. A good paint of the interior would raise it up a couple of points.

The place looks a bit run down and smells a bit inside. We went in with our dog but were told no dogs so couldn't stay anyway to try the place.
They were unprepared for the previously made booking for 12 people. The food I ordered was not what turned up. It was meant to be hot but was cold. Service non existent.
