Pubs in Chester Le Street

“The pub has quite recently changed ownership and whilst previously it was somewhere clean and friendly it was not somewhere I would choose to eat in as it was chain frozen food. Now however it is still clean and friendly with beautiful freshly cooked food. The menu options are excellent with traditional favourites and more! I truly hope that this continues and that word spreads as it is a welcome addition to the area.”

“Steps to enter and to beer garden. Once inside its level and wheelchair friendly. Helpful staff. Vape friendly, very relaxed atmosphere. Best beer garden in Chester-le-Street apparently accessible without going through the pub and doing the steps”

“Greeted with a warm welcome. Went to our room which was clean and well presented. Then the only downside to our stay. The bed was creaky, but comfortable. We booked a table for our evening meal and we were very impressed by the food. This was backed up by the breakfast in the morning. Ful English with cereals, porridge, fruit & yoghurt. Good selection of beer which was also well kept. A very good location for commuting into Newcastle or Durham.”

“The Red Lion is a fantastic pub that offers a great atmosphere and a range of quality drinks. There are two bars, one on either side of the pub, giving a great selection of pints, ciders, and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, and even provide snacks like pork scratchings and nuts at the bar. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time, and excellent service.”

“I really love the sunny upstairs, outside area. It's a shame it's not accessible for people with disabilities but it has the benefit of keeping young children and crying babies out, so usually peaceful dining.”
