After being our local for the last 30 years we were very disappointed that when we called in tonight for a drink we were informed that now they only serve customers that order food

Came here today for a meal with my partner, and will definitely be back. The restaurant is celebrating its 1st birthday and the owner has halved the prices to celebrate. My partner had potato skins to start and I had the black pudding dianne. Massive plate of crisp skins with both garlic and spicy mayo, the black pudding cooked just right with a lovely sauce. She had a meat feast pizza and I had the seafood platter. She said she enjoyed the pizza, she was quiet so that's a good sign lol. The seafood platter, best meal I have had put in a long time. 2 seabass fillets cooked to perfection with mussels tiger prawns King prawns squid and mixed seafood in a garlic wine sauce. Came with chips, didn't know what the were like as to full from the meal. Staff attentive bit not overbearing. With food and service like we had tonight this restaurant will have a lot more birthdays. Keep up the good work guys and girls and will be back soon

We stayed here last night and I have to say the staff and food were tremendous. Such a great family run place and would definitely recommend staying here. What a gem of a place. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Booked this hotel through booking.com absolute bargain for bed and breakfast ? room a bit dated but spotless and great shower in bathroom, off to Adriano's restaurant what is next door to hotel they do a terrific 3 course special (12.00 to 5.00pm) fortunately for us this continued into the evening (mid week and quiet?) So nice three course steak meal it was absolutely delicious steak's cooked to perfection...chips to die for.Staff all friendly and helpful and a big shout out to Dawn who put us onto the special and even tinkered with starters when asked....... keep up the good work and hope to see you again soon ... Frank and Sue......from Sunderland ??

I wanted somewhere to stay near Beamish for 5 nights. The Moorings was great value for money. Perhaps a little 'tired' in some ways, but I've never cared so long as a hotel is clean and the staff are there for you - and it really was a good deal.

We love going to Arianos at The Moorings and the Sunday lunch is wonderful. £12 for two courses and the portions are enormous and the quality is spot on. The staff are so efficient and you are seated and your drinks are ordered within minutes. We usually get beef and it is so tender and plentiful. You even get a sausage with your lunch which is unique. Definitely worth a visit and the Italian menu is great too, the pizzas are lovely.

We came to celebrate my mum’s 70th. The food was fantastic - particularly catering for my brother who is coeliac - most of the menu was available to him. Staff were amazing, particularly Dawn and Michael who went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. We will definitely be back!

We ate here last week whilst staying in Lumley Castle. I had Chicken Alla Creama. The sauce tasted very strange so after a few mouthfuls I left most of it. On the menu it said with onion, mushrooms & cream. I was very ill all night and the next day, which ruined our stay at Lumley Castle. I think this was due to garlic in the sauce which was not mentioned on the menu or the sauce being off. I can not eat garlic and it makes me ill. I sent a message to them via the website to advise them about this but I have been ignored hence the bad review. Had they contacted me back to discuss this, I would not have left this review but feel other customers should know about it. Not a good experience and we will certainty not be back.

With a party of 20 you come to expect a couple of problems with orders of this size, but not here, ordering was easy food came out almost all together, piping hot and very tasty, the quality of the meals was superb. The whole evening was made better by the very helpful and knowledgeable staff. This is defiantly a restaurant worth a visit. I cannot recommend highly enough.

We visited the Italian restaurant tonight for my mothers 70th birthday. We were looking forward to this after hearing positive reviews but were disappointed. The main issue was getting a drink. There was one person making drinks rushed off her feet and about 5 waiters walking around. We had to send back the shandy which tasted like beer then the rose wine and lemonade which tasted off. I had one moretti and ordered another which never arrived despite chasing this twice. We were then charged for 3 moretti’s and the waiter kindly removed 2 from the bill. The service was below average, young lads probably without much experience. We ordered the 3 course special but didn’t have the coffee and desert as we didn’t know how long it would take and we were fed up at this point.

Had the unfortunate experience of staying here overnight. A 'girl' showed us a room which wasn't made up, hastely taking us to another one, then announced that breakfast was at '9', not before or after, 'thats what she was told'! The room was noisy and too hot but after waiting until '9' the next morning, and making ourselves late, no one turned up! Forget breakfast you won't get it, in fact stay somewhere else. We couldn't even book out, there was no one there. We left the keys on the door handle!
