Firstly I had already booked a table when we arrived we had to wait 5 minutes until we were actually seen to. After this we were made to wait another 5 minutes before we were seated. This was really annoying due to a lot of tables free with no people sat on them. Customer service in this restaurant is a disgrace, we were ignored by all waitresses it was as if we were not there. When the waitress actually came to the table they were so rude.We had trouble cutting our pizza with the Pizza cutter provided. The pizza was that thin it was like eating paper. Not one waitress asked us if we wanted any sauce or if our food was ok. At the end our meal I was approached by a very rude waitress who basically flung a pizza box in my face so I could take the left over pizza home with me due to only having one slice. This has been a terrible experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone!!

Server was apologetic until we complained that we hadn’t been served in over an hour after ordering. She had previously told us the food had gone in the oven but we actually saw it go in 15mins later. She said they cook in minutes and there’s nothing else she could do - she could take something off the bill or we could cancel and leave. I don’t understand why if it cooks in minutes, why they waited so long to put them in the oven. That’s the crux of the issue - not enough staff and bad prioritisation in the kitchen. She told my husband she could tell he wanted an argument by the way he was looking at her - we were looking as we were wondering where the food was. Even the kids meals that had been ordered earlier hadn’t arrived yet. Her customer service made the situation worse not better. She also told us our negative review would be deleted by the manager .

Went for lunch with 2 small children. Asked to order and was then seen 10 minutes later. Waited 45 minutes for our food at which point the server informed us that our food was “in the oven”, 10 minutes later we witnessed our food actually going in to the oven and which point we weee told it was coming out in a few minutes. Upon querying why we had been told they were in the oven 10 minutes before the server got immediately hostile and started loudly stating that they wouldn’t argue with us and that we could leave if we wanted. At this point we chose to leave given that the server was essentially throwing a tantrum. Extremely poor customer service. Server claimed manager would delete this review which doesn’t seem fair

This experience made me remember why I hate eating out! The pizzas we ordered were described as having a light and crispy- they were so hard we had trouble cutting them with Pizza cutter provided. I had fiorentina - suppose to have a soft egg yolk- the yolk was hard . I was waiting for the server to check everything was ok with food- nowhere to be seen took a while to attract her attention to express my disappointment!

Came for dinner with family and we were three people and we left with big disappointment.Customer service was absolutely arrogant, didn't explain about the app and promotion properly, he was too rude to my husband when he ask for extra mayo, our day was ruined by the service. In the end we found out the person who was serving us was the general manager Paul. Will never come back again.

I visited this restaurant on Thursday the 24th of aug 2023. Firstly wow it was incredibly hot with no air con how are staff made to work in these conditions its not healthy! Secound I am a manager in hospitality and I can honestly say that the staff that day was very young and overworked, the restaurant was full with people at the door waiting to be seated there was only 2 people working one I spoke to was a young lady and she was very sad looked in distress and she apologised for the wait and said it’s just her and her manager in today, I looked at the manager who seemed rushed if his feet doing as much as he could to help his staff the poor chef was over worked it was way to much but again they tried there best. My concern is as I sat there and watched them i felt very sad these guys worked together and really tried but where is the staff ? And if the manager is on the floor who is managing the shift and who allowed this restaurant to be so over worked .I will Not be coming back to eat again as I was In de stress watching I wanted to get up and help , however the food was nice the wait was not the employers fault and the service will stay bad because there is obviously a staffing issue there wasent anyone cleaning I cannot imagine how the back looked and I feel This restaurant needs to be looked into I will be writing a future email of my concerns to the head of pizza express

i had experienced amazing service while eating here i was served by a young girl called Abigail she had made sure our service was 100% while it being very busy she had made us enjoy our experience very well and i will 100% be going back she had mentioned to us she is moving to university soon and i wish her all the best she is a lovely young women

The place has got extremely slow and disorganised. I guess these days the food matches the price but by the time it appears, you're quite annoyed. Took 1h15min from ordering to receiving the food. Dare I say it, there is no mature member of staff to get things moving. If it was workload, the oven slots would be full all the time, but they are not - it's often completely empty. I believe they are taking on far too many delivery orders at the back, making the sit-ins wait.

Food was meh…not worth price…and service was underwhelming. Upon ordering meals for my family, we were greeted by staff member, could not catch his name but was very professional… However, staff more concerned about own chit chat than serving me and my family, after waiting for 30 minutes to be served, i was met with pig ignorant staff. I asked for sauce three times and did not receive it but we’re still charged for it. Then young girl Abigail hovered around table while we were still eating our bland desserts, we felt rushed…as she circled around us clearly waiting for her gratuity… as if i would tip for this mediocre service. Disgraceful. Pizza express you should be ashamed.

Wouldn’t go again, we got 2 pizzas, dough balls, garlic mushrooms, chips and 2 cokes with 2 small cartons of apple juice and a extra cocktail stick ?‍♀️… £58.15 I waited about 6 minutes at the door for somebody to greet me so I could ask if a table was free which there were plenty of tables free but I was just making sure, there was about 7 families in at this point, finally 6 minutes later, a women came over grabbed 2 menus and said she will be back with the 2 kids menus, we sat another 15 minutes whilst a guy cleaned tables around us as if we were invisible. Then he finally comes over to take drink orders, I told him we are ready to order food to as we had been sat there for 15 minutes up to now. Sits another 10 minutes and the women comes over with the kids menus. So 25 minutes after entering we finally have kids menus, my partner said well we have already ordered now pal. Then he said oh no they have colouring pages in for the kids so we took them. He did say sorry he was very busy, to which my and my partner looked at each other my partner stood up to see who was on the other side of the restaurant and there were another 2 tables in so 3 including us. But he was busy ?? 1 table of 4 and 1 table of 3. Another 10 minutes food arrives (Not bad waiting time I would give it a 8/10) Well just when you think it couldn’t get any better… it does. My partner tucked into his garlic mushrooms with a grunt followed by a finger in his mouth and pulled out what looked like a good 20cm of cocktail stick (I have pictures of the wood if anybody wants to contact me about this). The dough balls were good, the pizza I would say 5/10 due to them shoving sauce and cheese in the middle and leaving a big plain edge around the center they turned a 12 inch pizza into an 8 with big crusts ? the chips were like hash browns with way too much herb on, they got left behind as none of us 4 liked them. I would say the best bit of this experience was walking out. The staff wernt friendly, they looked like they just wanted to be somewhere else. they were drinking monster cans and just leaving it on the bar thing near the ice cream section for anybody to see, a lady emptied a bin in the cuboard and lots of blue roll bottle lids and other things fell out on the floor which was left a good 5 minutes before we left, it could still be there now as we left when it was still there. Honestly probably the worst £60 ever, well £66 as we had to call to McDonald’s on the way home as the children were still hungry. Overall will not be going again. I am a social influencer and if I here anybody going to go I will be telling them my opinion as this was bad.

Food yesterday was as good as usual but the service was, frankly, dire. We waited for nearly an hour to get our simple pizza orders. When I asked for my bill our waiter obviously saw me but blanked us and walked straight past our table. This is simply rude.I think the problem was severe understaffing and poorly trained, inexperienced servers, but Pizza Express isn't cheap for what it is and this ropey level of service will indubitably cost them loyal customers. Other reviews are already starting to reflect this. My husband and I hope the next branch we visit will be better-managed than this one was.

Service was terrible, this is our fourth visit this year , we have never been disappointed up until tonight, we booked out table for 6.30 , arrived a little earlier 6.20 we waited until 7.30 for our pizzas to arrive ! I find 1 hour ten minutes unacceptable to wait for two pizzas , the food is always good but should be for the price we paid , I’ll not be going back to this branch until they sort out there customer service

Visited for my father in laws 80th Birthday on 16/7/23. Service was slow & despite not being busy & a 5pm booking, our table wasn't ready so we were put onto another one with dirty glasses & missing cutlery which had clearly been used but not properly cleaned. The servers seemed rushed & hassled & the food took a long time to arrive. They got 2 orders wrong & brought 2 American (pepperoni) Pizzas for 2 meat free orders, then forgot one order completely. When the incorrect/missing pizzas arrived they were undercooked & frankly not nice. Couldn't catch anyone's eye to even complain as staff were thin on the ground. The 4 Leggera Pizzas we received were not up to their usual standard, much smaller than normal, toppings were scant & were filled with piles of spinach not the usual rocket salad we expected (the 2 Gamberettis had 4 pale white prawns, no cheese at all & were bone dry, the Pomodoro was basically warm dough not crisp or evenly cooked at all)We usually love Pizza Express & are rarely disappointed & I don't know what went wrong on this occasion. As a large party, eating 3 courses each, bringing in a lot of money, we expected much better service & food quality. We'll be heading elsewhere until they get this sorted out.
