We moved to Wynyard about 3 months ago. We have dined at the Stables 4 times. We were never impressed, last week I had the teriyaki salmon and without doubt it was the most hideous thing I had ever eaten. I always thought the ‘last time’ was a one off but after 4 meals. I’ve decided the place isn’t for us.

We presented as walk in customers for lunchtime at 12. The restaurant was booked up, but they squeezed us in. On agreeing to take the table the bar lady said she would need the table back by 13:00, my partner told them that was fine as we would be gone by 12:30. We waited for 10 minutes before anyone came to take a drinks order, soon after the manager came to take our orders. We waited until 12:30, and went to leave. I went to pay for the drinks and told the staff we had to go. Unfortunately the ‘lady’ behind the car must have needed a refresher in customer service and reported we had to pay as the food had been made. Contrary to law which would state we only have to pay if the food had been consumed. She was unpleasant towards my partner and did not seem bothered when my partner told her we wouldn’t be back. I have given them two stars as they offered us to box up the food, which was not suitable as we had an appointment to see my partner’s grandmother in hospital. The food was gifted to a customer service rep at the TW site in which we live. Who, after us telling her about our experience will not be recommending the pub to new residents!

We attended a family wedding and from start to finish the staff were amazing, nothing was to much trouble, very attentive and welcoming. My little boy lost his phone and the receptionist specially went above and beyond to help. If you are thinking of booking a wedding here you won’t be disappointed, you will be be very well taken care of by all staff. The master of ceremonies was also fantastic at his job and made everyone feel at ease throughout the day ❤️

The bar gets busy on a weekend, as expected, but always a good atmosphere. I'd always book into the restaurant for food as it gets busy during peak times (weekends/tea) Food is always nice and staff are friendly. My only request would be more outside seating :-) But otherwise cannot fault it, always a good night

So disappointed. We went for lunch on Tuesday. Lots of customers waiting outside for opening. A rather grumpy guy opened up later than advertised. No apologies, or hospitality. Inside TV screen playing dance music , no staff providing menus , just a complete lack of customer care. Menu looked great but after 5 minutes feeling ignored we left .

We stayed for 2 nights whilst whilst attending a wedding. The location was stunning along with amazing food. Friendly and extremely helpful staff that couldn’t do enough to make our stay as perfect as the location. Just disappointing the location is only available to stay for weddings and conferences as we would of definitely liked to stayed again.

Lovely place.Try the black pudding starter it is to die for. My only fault the fillet was underseasoned and I asked for and served a pepper sauce there was a balsamic dressing on the salad I forgot about. So the sauce was not as good due to that. Otherwise nice food slightly overpriced.

2nd time here and once again, fantastic service and food. We had no booking, and it's always busy, and we're asked if we'd be OK eating in the bar area. After a couple minutes we were accommodated in the main dining area, due to a no show booking, and served immediately. My appetite wasn't upto much that day and I was able to order from the kids menu which was a surprisingly good portion none the less. Others in our party ordered main courses and starters.A great atmosphere and inclusion into conversation with staff. Clean, fast service and really good quality food and drink.Definatley will recommend

We popped into The Stables for Sunday lunch - two beef and one turkey. The food was superb - with rich gravy and a generous side portion of vegetables. The Stables is turning into the perfect local.
