We stayed in the Highfield nearby , but fancied some real food , not the posh stuff in the hotel. We found The Old Star and it was also recommended by the lady in the hotel.It was really easy to find, and o street parking outside was easy too.We were greeted and seated straight away, though we did reserve a spot.The staff were all brilliant and very attentive. We got our drinks in no time and we picked our food from the menu.There was a few Vegetarian and vegan choices from the menu, which being Dairy intolerant sometimes helps.The food was fantastic, all well cooked , hot and enough to fill us both.The only downside is it is a pub, and it was quite noisy, there was also someone wanting to fight people in another room.All in all, we had a good night with great food. The price was very reasonable too.Parking: On street parking, but we practically parked outside.

My first time visiting this lovely pub, the staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic. I had the steak and ale pie, absolutely delicious and will definitely be returningParking: On road parking I went mid week at lunch time plenty of spaces

3 of us went for lunch. The meal was beautiful all 3 of us had the pie which came with chips and lots of fresh veg. We then all had different deserts which were home cooked and delicious. The i wing on the cake was the friendly bartender/waiter who really looked after us and was so polite and welcoming. We will definitely return.
Second time I have eaten there - this time it was new year's Eve and while they were very accommodating with the lunchtime menu the food was a bit cold.
