Our first time visit to this beautiful pub! We received a very warm welcome from Jo, one of the managers, and the temperature of the building was perfect on a really cold day. The décor is perfect. We chose steak pies and lamb and mint pie with chips or mash and roasted vegetables. Everything was delicious and served with a smile and good humour by the chef/manager. We will definitely be back!

Called in for Sunday lunch with my elderly aunt who is lactose intolerant. Very well looked after by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the chef came out to speak to her to make sure what she could and couldn’t eat. The meal was delicious and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope to visit again.

Visited today with my friend for our Xmas Meal together. We both had the pie which was lovely. I ordered one scoop vanilla ice cream/one scoop raspberry ripple ice cream £3. They were out of raspberry ripple so I went for the biscoff & vanilla. Biscoff/lemon curd was what I got. I don’t like lemon curd and I would never have ordered it. I didn’t eat the lemon curd I left it in the dessert dish. When we went to pay there was a £4 charge so I questioned it. It was for the dessert that said £3 on the menu? So I had been over charged for something I didn’t order or eat. The young girl said lemon curd was what she heard? Well not coming out of my mouth you didn’t cos I don’t like lemon curd. She was adamant she was charging me £4 for something that was £3 on the menu. I thought she was very rude. Shame really cos the mains were lovely.

This is a beautiful pub very tastefully decorated, lovely welcoming open coal fire. the owners very accommodating. There was 6 of us in our party. Everyone enjoyed their food, the homemade pies are fab and are very popular. 2 of our party had the fish and chips which looked delicious. Would certainly recommend people to visit.

What a great pub. Went for a meal last night with friends, the interior is lovely, very welcoming and cosy. If you’re a pie lover you definitely need to go, the selection last night was Steak, Chicken & Ham, Mince Beef & Onion, Turkey & Cranberry and Lamb & Mint. I had the Gammon which was delicious and the Chocolate & Nutella brownie with Biscoff ice-cream was to die for. Landlord & Landlady ( who also does the cooking) were lovely and so welcoming and friendly. Would definately recommend.

Added an extra person thought l would have trouble getting them in but no very accomodating. No wonder it was a Saturday evening about 11 people in there and 7 were in our party. No wonder!1 person was gluten intolerant one thing they could have Hunters chicken which looked just like her friends Hunters chicken and ice-cream for dessert 3 measly scoops that was the choice,no starters, at all for anyone and chips with everything. The person gluten free had stomach problems afterwards, they tried to over charge us by quite a lot and there was only instant coffee as the machine was broke. We sat there chatting as they proceeded to clean up as they wanted to close at 9.45.Buckets of water going back and forth. We left would not go there again and would not recommend.

Had my 50th B'day tea, there with family. The food was good. Friendly staff & service. Was the first time, I had been there. Nice & cosy. Would recommend going at any time. Will be nicer on a warm, sunny day.

Great, welcoming pub.. we’ve just had three days staying in north dalton and visited the pub each day, two evenings and Sunday lunch! Beautiful food. It’s our 2nd visit to this pub and the best visit yet. Food is great, a nice warm welcome. Spoke with both landlord and landlady, they couldn’t be any nice and hardworking! We will definitely be back and hope to see them again. Thank you guys! ??

We booked all of the rooms out for family and friends to stay following our sons birthday party. Everyone was thoroughly impressed by the standard of the rooms (especially the beds) and the breakfast. Joanne and Jo went above and beyond to make sure they had a lovely stay. Would thoroughly recommend.

The Star in North Dalton is a great village pub with rooms and excellent food. We stayed for 3 nights and dined there every evening, Joe and Joanne are excellent hosts and the Star itself has recently been refurbished and is cosy and very welcoming and adjacent to the village duck pond ? Real Ale from the Old Mill Brewery in Snaith in the lovely bar with a roaring fire, followed by Joanne’s delicious food, try to leave room for pudding, was a perfect end to a day exploring this lovely area of East Yorkshire. We hope to be back one day ?

Lovely pub, lovely food , the young girls serving us were very polite and helpful, after we dined we stayed for a drink in the bar area we found this very clicky and to be approached by a drunk landlord that was was sat with some locals, did nor seem very professional with customers because he was more interested in drinking with the locals (locals) rather than tending to the outside custom food was good but let down by the management in general
