My partner and I have been big fans of Happy Maki for a few years. Being gluten free and vegan, it’s hard to find places with whole menus. In the last months, however, the food quality has really gone down hill. Today, we got sweet potato so undercooked I could not cut through it (chunks rather than the wedges they used to do which were always well cooked) and rice that was definitely old, as it was hard and gummed together in a way that it’s not been before.Really hope things start looking up, but I don’t think we’ll be eating here again due to two or three unpleasant experiences in a row, which is a shame given how much we used to love it.

We had been to happy making before a few years ago after first having it at a festival. The sushi burritos are so good. When they ask if you want wasabi they mean inside the wrap not outside so be warned. Came with 5 month old and they were really accommodating.

This is still a brilliant place with delicious sushi, but I miss when it was still super affordable :( 8.50 for a sushi roll that doesn't really fill you up sort of takes away from what it used to be. However I do understand everything is getting more expensive, so all things considered it's still a wonderful place to go for a snack/lunch. They're best roll is for sure the hoison duck one -- the most flavour and the most filling imo

Great service and amazing

My current favourite to order from, and probably one of the best food outlets in Brighton. The food is amazing (even as someone who myself isn’t vegan, but I do have a fish allergy and the vegan fish is amazing!) Just all round brilliant, from the really yummy dishes, to the business ethics, staff and owners. Could not recommend more!Dietary restrictions: Vegan and allergy aware

We didn’t know we walked into a vegan restaurant. That being said, the food was amazing. People were very friendly. The cauliflower tempura was great(could have ate another) and the burritos and sauces were delicious. Thanks again!

Such a great find for vegans. Nourishing, filling and so many options we did the happy food dance ?

I have been looking forward to visiting Happy Maki for some time, however my visit left me quite underwhelmed. The quality and flavour of the food didn’t meet my expectations, particularly considering the price point. The satay sauce was basically a runny peanut butter, the burrito didn’t hold together well and fell apart on eating and for me flavour was really lacking. The food was fresh however and arrived quickly. Located up a flight of stairs on the first floor.Dietary restrictions: Vegan

Highly recommend this place! On our short visit to Brighton we came here twice...once for takeaway and once to eat in! Our favourite dish was the build your own sushi bowl... the vegan salmon and all the toppings were amazing. Everything was packed with flavour and with the build your own concept, there's something for everyone! The service was good and food ready quickly. I also have some extra dietary requirements which were catered to brilliantly. I found the price very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food... everything was so fresh! I am vegan but meat eaters would definitely enjoy this too! Just go!!
Delicious and healthy food, especially recommend the bowls and the popcorn cauliflower. Good value for money considering the generous portion sizes. Free chilled tap water available to help yourself.

Delicious food as always! Food you feel good after. I prefer the other type of ‘chicken’ they used to use but there’s still plenty of other great options on the menu.
