I love this place and it gave me a chance to practice the Turkish I had learned (I'm not brilliant!) which was a surprise for the staff. They are lovely people and in addition, the food is amazing. Because we are an older couple we like Mezze type eating but on our second visit I had the sizzling chicken which was tender and had a lovely flavour. Everything we chose was delicious and the whole experience was very authentic. Elinize Saglik !! (for the English reader - this means health to your hand which is the way you praise food in Turkish).

Happened on this place. Staff were friendly and helpful. Requested vegan options (only one vegan in the party), options explained, really helpful and happy to offer alternatives where butter has been used. Smallest criticism the food could have been hotter - other than the sizzling dishes on the skillets! Definitely worth a stop.

Stumbled across this place late on a Saturday night and glad we did. Just the most aromatic food and perfectly cooked rice. My taste buds were having a party ... just delicious. Staff were uber friendly ... makes me want to live locally so I can visit regularly.

Had an awesome time at this Mediterranean spot in Brighton today! The vibe inside was so chill and cozy. Loved how fresh the food was and generous portions, for a reasonable price (we particularly loved the rice!!) If you’re around Brighton and want something healthy and tasty, this is your place.

This is our first time trying Mediterranean food. Warm & nice shop. Great Chef, friendly staff. Very impressive food. I wish I were one of the residents in Brighton so that I can always visit!!

The menu looked good! The tables looked busy for a small intimate restaurant! Unfortunately many items and wines were not available and service was slow (but that’s probably a good sign as they were cooking it fresh) or were they! The catch of the day did not taste fresh and they only had one red wine choice on the menu! My friend aubergine - both our dishes lacked flavour! The starters were good though squid which was nice I probably wouldn’t return which is a shame as it’s a good spot and nice staff thr food was a let down! Sorry

What a lovely little find, very welcoming and dog friendly. Food was well priced and delicious. Lovely atmosphere in a small and local restaurant. I would definitely return and bring friends.

In a break from my usual tradition of Thai food Tuesday, I decided to opt for a steak. The Yelken is close to where I live and my partner loves Mediterranean food so off we went. This restaurant is tiny but intimate and clean. Staff were friendly when we entered. The menu is good, portions were generous and there is also a 'Specials' board.I had the ribeye steak and chips and my partner ate just a salad. We paid £35 for the two of us which included a glass of wine each.At the end of the meal we were given a complimentary cup of tea and some Turkish delight which was a nice touch.Nothing to complain about, good little restaurant, good food, good service, will go again.

My girlfriend & I found Yelken via TripAdvisor & we were very lucky we did find this lovely, small restaurant as it was a superb meal, very much enjoyed by both of us! I had the Kofte (like meatballs) with rice & a side salad & my partner had aubergine with beef/lamb, which came on a large bed of the most delicious rice, along with a side salad. I asked for chips instead of rice with my main, so the server kindly brought me a large bowl of chips, which were crispy & tasty. We were going to have some baklava for dessert, but they'd just run out, which was a shame, but the waiter said to come back tomorrow or the next time we were in & he'd give us some baklava on the house to make up for this disappointment. This was a nice gesture & tied in with the excellent, friendly service we got throughout. The portions are huge & the turkish tea & small turkish delight are complimentary if you fancy this to finish your meal. I can't wait to revisit & try something else from the menu. Recommended!

First time here yesterday - we went in and were served excellent food, had very friendly service and everything was quickly served. The waiter couldn’t do enough for us. Very generous portion sizes. (Good place for people watching if you are sat by the window). We will return!

We really liked the relaxed atmosphere at Yelken which is or at least feels like a family run informal restaurant. The menu choice is good for both starters and mains. Wine choice is a bit more limited but we liked the Prosecco we shared. We chose halloumi salad and some olives to share to start with. The olives were tasty and plentiful and the halloumi was good if a bit overdone. But unfortunately we were only two mouthfuls in when the mains suddenly arrived. They were substantial! With mounds of rice and salad and some possibly unnecessary pitta. The stuffed aubergine sounded delicious, but was very bland. The Kofte had more flavour but unfortunately overcooked and dry. Maybe yoghurt would be good with it? Overall we would suggest focusing less on quantity and more on quality. Such a shame.

A lovely gem of Mediterranean delights. The staff here were friendly attentive and kind. The food was generous and scrumptious. The stuffed dried aubergine is a winner. The traditional tea is refreshing and the baklava sweet as it should be.
